well my friend (who doesn't even play bass i might add) just got a 1970's Fender Jazz Bass, and an old Traynor 100 tube Bass amp, and get this, he paid 450 canadian. he brought the bass in today and it plays like a dream. why must undeserving people get amazing things?

As long as people work for the stuff they get, I don't really mind. I have (well, had, till I blew it all on alcohol, drugs, and college books) a large amount of disposable income that I could've used to get an AC-30 or a Jazzmaster or something...But it was my own knowledge of my innate suckiness that has kept me mainly a pedal buyer.

Yeah, I actually did some math and I realized that I spent into the thousands on alcohol alone...
Imagine the gear I could have accumulated by now...

Hell, most of mine went to college books/tuition stuff...I WISH i had spent more of it stockpiling alcohol. I sure could use it now...
Not to be contrary or anything but I'd say good for him, that's a great setup that will last him a while and having that quality of equiptment will help keep him playing. Even once he starts gigging that traynor will make a great practice amp won't be loud enough to play rock though. And if he gives up bass a couple years down the road you'll know where to look for some kick ass gear for yourself:D
EDIT: We really need some more bassists, right now I'm the last post on all the bass forums

yeah the lamest players always get the best stuff
if he sucks, now he'll just look even worse because he's got that nice rig.
