View Full Version : Anyone ever fixed dead outputs on a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power?

I have an original Voodoo Labs Pedal Power unit. Got it on the cheap because outs 1, 5 and 8 weren't working. I figured it was just the voltage regulators. Probably hooked up a digital pedal to them or some such thing and pulled more than the 100 mA they can handle.

I ordered some TI 78L09 replacements. The unit has JRC 78L09s in it. I can't find a data sheet for the JRCs so I guessed the pin out was the same as the TIs and soldered in the TIs in the same orientation.

No luck. Still nothing running through those outputs.

Anyone ever debug problems with one of these before? Do you know if the TI and JRC regulators have the same pinout? I'm debating flipping one around to see what happens.

If not the regulators where's the next best place to look? The rectifier? The two caps on the lines look okay -- they're big electrolytics and they're not charred and they smell fine so I don't think it's the caps.

Check the AC first! It should have seperate AC outputs for each line

Will do! Thanks!

It's the transformer. I've got nothing at the taps for these outputs off the transformer.

I sent Voodoo Labs and email the other night and got a response today from Josh Fiden, CEO and Founder. How's that for service? He confirmed the transformer diagnoses and offered me a replacement for USD$43 + shipping.

At this point I'm going to cut my loses and just invest in a new unit I think.

But it was fun while it lasted!
