I recently decided to make a little interlude thingy using all software instruments. When I tried to send it to iTunes (like I normally do with real instrument tracks), it came out really really quiet. This has never happened with real instrument tracks.

I tried boosting the levels of all the individual tracks, the master volume, EQing ect. and that all helped a little bit, but definitely not enough. I made sure that it's being normalized when I export it, so I don't think that's the problem either.

How do I fix this?

I guess this thread can be used for general Garage Band inquiries.

I am not a GB user but...

Can you check the exported wave from in a viewer? Try Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) perhaps? Free and you know it's not GB. Check it for a huge spike, like a pop, which would be causing any normalization to treat that as the peak in the output and thus setting that to your peak normalization level and making everything else relative to that. Which would be really quiet.

That's all I've got for you man.

Wow,it's very nice to know.Good call on that jaresee,i have run.I don't know if you're still looking for a solution, but I found it.It has to do with Garage Band's "ducking" feature. If you click on a track, go to the Control menu and select Ducking, which displays two arrows,Up and Down beside the panning control.Ducking allows you to set a track as Primary,so the other tracks alter their volume levels to give berth to the primary.
