Easy pedal or mod to do?

Hi, I'm trying to get into modifying pedals and work on my soldering. Could someone please give me some tips on an easy pedal or mod to do for beginners? Thanks alot!

pretty much any distortion pedal is good to start with. there are plenty of distortion pedals that are nice and cheap, and plenty of free info on the net for different pedal mods. usually with these it's a matter of cap or resistor replacements or adding jumpers. this is a good place to cut your teeth.

ds-1's rat's boosters, muff's etc. check out indyguitarist.com Brian makes his own Wampler line of pedals but also has plenty of mods for beginners and even has a book he puts out himself on it. any skill level.

mod a crybaby for true bypass. its the easiest mod i've ever done, and taught me a whole lot about soldering (im still no expert, but better than i was).

No, batteries will drain when any pedal is plugged in. True bypass suggests that the pedal will no longer "color your sound"/ "suck tone" when it is disengaged but in you signal chain.

If you own a non vintage Phase 90, the R28 mod is pretty simple to do. It was the first one that I did when I was starting out. Do a google search and it should turn up some schematics.
