Hello all.... I have an important question: I want to test my home made speaker system ( i.e., a homemade box with various speakers in it) for its ability to produce good sound at loudness... meaning I want to know at what point of increasing the volume knob on my 1000watt Hafler amp will the speaker begin to sound bad... The total wattage capacity of all the speakers in the box is 980 watts, but of course, I'm not planning on pumping the poor thing that hard... but i want to know at what "wattage" the speaker begins to sound subjectively bad to my ear (while playing actual music not just a test tone).. that will enable me to put a circuit breaker in the system or attenuator of some sort to prevent accidental damage. ... what do i use to measure and calculate this?... thanks for your help....
