View Full Version : bass chorus
alright, now everyone is going to have their own take on it. but i love chorus on bass. its partly my obsession with bands such as the cure and new order im sure, but im looking for a great sopping wet chorus for bass. ive used the boss bass chorus and its not bad. how do the guitar chorus pedals sound on the bass? ive found that they usually suck the balls right out (sometimes to your advantage -- such as in distortions and whatnot) but what have people fallen in love with that gives a great round, wet chorus sound to their bass rig?

Peter Hook used the old EHX Small Clone on his bass, and if you're a fan of New Order you obviously know this sound. The Clone apparently doesn't quite have the 'sparkle' of Boss pedals (although I find it to be thick and shimmery) which probably makes it better for bass, it doesn't seem to suck low end. My bassist tried and loves it. Generally you have to make the settings more extreme on bass than you would on guitar.
There are also some nice clips of the EHX Polychorus on their website (ehx.com) with a bass that sound quite good.
Robert Smith said his 6-string bass sounds go through a boss chorus, digital delay, and noise gate, although I don't know which models. (Personally I hate noise gates and i'm not to keen on those boss digital delays either).
Try Ibanez SC10 chorus pedal - worked for me!
EBS UniChorus. That is all.

I read that he used an EHX Clone Theory
I played the Digitech bass chorus at GC and was very impressed, especially with the really wet sounds. Not sure how it cuts through with a band, but it's worth a shot.
