I went by the local music store to buy a slide, and I decided to give an electric bass a try since I'd never actually played one before, so I grabbed a five string Squier P Bass, hooked it into the Peavey amp they had set up for people who wanted to test basses (don't know the model or power, but it was big and expensive, LOL), and, OMFG, it was so bad-ass. Even at low volume, it made everything vibrate. I even played a little Flaw, MuDvAyNe, and RAtM stuff on it. I felt so POWERFUL. And the thing is almost as tall as I am. LOL. Once I get everything I could possibly need for my guitar, I'm DEFINITELY buying a bass. :-)

Bass is really fun, especially if you have a big kick ass amp to rumble through. I never played a bass until I bought one from a friend about a year ago. I think all guitar players should have a bass guitar around to play with.

I figure I'll start out with a Squier P Bass or something else inexpenisve and then, many years in the future when I'm withered and grey and an old maid because I spent all my life either working, sleeping, or playing music, THEN I'll be able to afford a Warwick five string Thumb. :-D

i play bass whenever i get the chance but i find it hard to play fast with my fingers and changing strings im used to classical guitar
i got pretty good on bass. my bass year was spent listening to all sorts of ska and reggae. i had a mexican fender pbass [that i kick myself DAILY for getting rid of] and two army green sovtek bigmuffs and my sovtek small stone. kustom 200 with 2x15 tuck n roll cabinet [with those huge chrome portholes]. i'd vibrate the whole house when no one was home.
bass is great. after i get another guitar and a new guitar amp, i'm starting with the bass rig... those new fender bassman amps are pretty nice, hey?

I played bass for a few months with my band because we needed a bass player. I had been playing guitar for 3-4 years by that time and I sucked pretty bad. Which made playing the bass(I think it was a samick) pretty diffucult. I HATED it, like nothing else before. Music, sweet wonderful music, became something of a chore and I left jams feeling downright angry. However, in time I overcame my initial awkwardness, and could get a decent sound out of the bass and my amp. My band actually played a set at a show, and even without a vocalist it went over really well. That was the only show we played with myself on bass. The moral of the story kids, is that nothing easy is worth doing. When I stopped being a crybaby about not wanting to play bass, and just did it because the band needed it, everything was cool. After I graduated High School, I stopped playing the bass in our band and began to focus on guitar, which seemed very easy after playing bass for a few months. And, being reminded of how bad I was at guitar before I started bass, I was more motivated to play the guitar then ever before. Now, it's two years later and i can actually make up stuff on my guitar that myself and others enjoy listeneing to. :)

What an odd thought. I find bass infinitely easier than guitar. Though I suppose it's possible that in nu metal the bass parts are disproportionately easy compared to the guitar parts (yes, yes, I know it's ALL easy, blah, blah). Although there ARE some tough bass parts. One of the things I played was the bass line to "Death Blooms" by MuDvAyNe, which is some fast **** that goes up and down the length of the fingerboard, yet I managed to keep the pace reasonable well. I would DEFINITELY enjoy playing bass in a band. In fact, I may end up doing so, though of course my efforts with guitar will continue as well...

Ah, MuDvAyNe. I can listen to the End of All Things To Come just for the bass parts.

I wonder how a bass guitar would sound through my Dual Rectifier... plenty of volume for a bass I'm certain.

Ha ha, the Amgeg SVT/8x10 combination is the shizz! I've got one of the SVT Classics, and it sounds amazing...really warm and powerful. In my last band I played a '78 P Bass, and with the sub-boost engaged it would vibrate the walls and knock things off shelves.
I think it's time to retube/rebias the beast again, which will cost some $$$ but at least the bassist in my band will go half-sies with me, since he uses it more than I do.
Once you had the BASS you never wanna come back!
I play a Fender HM4 Bass, and like it more and more with every minute I play!
:) ;) :D :p
