I figured that since we've touched on sound levels in another thread here, i thought i'd start a new one by asking if anyone can describe a little bit about pulling tubes, if there are any drawbacks, etc.

Also, if anyone has had experience with good or bad powerbrakes.

(this is for those of us who have the 100 watters and find ourselves at gigs turning down...its frustrating).

And any other thoughts people might have in regards to massive amplifiers.

The THD hotplate works pretty good, although I hear the Alessandro Muzzle and Trainwreck Airbrake are far superior.

I use a THD Hot Plate Power Break on my Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 1x12 combo, it takes a little playing with, getting the right combination of signal from the amp to the -db setting on the THD is the key, you can achive great tone, and get the volume cut you want, jsut make sure you get the right Ohm rated one for YOUR! amp.

dumb question but can you use a marshall powerbrake with a fender twin or an AC.30 etc.

Yes you can 456, and I would definetely recommend it for the fender twin reverb, 'cause though you can get great static, noise, or feedback, them things are next to impossible to overdrive.
