Hey,
Will someone please take the time to disect these two techniques...really pick em down. and post it.
Pinch Harmonics
Sweep Picking
Thanks Much.
k...i'm just gonna tell you what they are but not how to do them as it is quite difficult to explain online....
pinch harmonics is the ability to produce a harmonic at any fret (if you have a good guitar and if you're a good player) This is done by picking the sting with the pick but with a piece of your finger (usually thumb) at the same time....you can learn this on your own by just fooling around on you guitar and just picking differently.
sweep picking is pretty hard to learn......it's basically just striking multiple strings in one motion....like a down strum but the notes are more defined and articulated......there are many ways to do this and its not possible to learn this on your own as this is very very complicated.....and what i explain is babyish compare to what it really is....
both of these are techniques metal gods use and master........

pinch harmonics is the sort of thing you hear zakk wylde doing a lot. it's basically the same as performing a tapped harmonic (playing one fret and then tapping another fret above it to perform a harmonic) except done in a slightly more complicated way. basically you wanna hold your pick so that only a small bit is poking out the bottom. then when you pick, pick with a bit more attack and curve. the bottom of your thumb should strike the string and produce the harmonic. experiment with picking at different places to produce different harmonics. it's a lot easier to pinch harmonic with a very light pick and heavy strings. also, there's no point trying it without playing through a wall of distortion.
aim hit sweep picking right on the head, and i don't think there's a lot to add to it, but if you ever hear the live ozzy version of sabbath's paranoid (w/ randy rhoads) then the very first bit of the solo is super fast sweep picking.
hope you can make some sense out of that.
