Today I was talking to my friend Sam. I've known him for almost a year. Until the beginning of summer he was in a really great Valley band called Blue X. However, their bass player quit, so they reorganized and as he told me, they are still looking for a bass player. "Man, now you tell me!" I told him. Cause I am available, but I had sold my bass rig. Then I thought of something.

The guys still have a nice big PA at their practice space. I was thinking if I picked up a Tech 21 Sansamp bass DI then I could just run direct. Has anyone tried doing this at a show? I mean, I know it works for recording but does it work just as well for live situations?

when i was last on tour i only brought my sans amp with me to save some space in our too small vehicle and since coming back i've just kept it up. it sounds awesome in the house, but takes a bit of getting used to in the monitors. the only thing you wanna consider is that at smaller venues they might not have enough of a pa for you to rely on.
