I got the MusicMan Sterling, but the action is way high...Anyone know how to lower the action on a MusicMan? It can't be as simple as turning the trussrod at the bottom of the neck, can it?
You may want to adjust your saddles before you get ahead of the game by screwing with the truss rod.

Sorry, not very technical - saddles meaning the two screw-like things to the left and right of each string?
Saddles are the (in most cases) individual pieces on your bridge that hold each string in place.
If you mess with those, make sure that you intonation afterwords because your tuning will likely be all screwey.
there's a site that can help you out here (http://users.powernet.co.uk/guitars/setup3.htm)
DON'T TOUCH YOUR TRUSS ROD. If you don't know what you're doing, you can warp/bust your neck.

I couldn't bear to do it myself - I just went to Mandolin Bros. here in SI and they did it in 10 minutes for 15 bucks.

Cool - you have a nice bass. Take care of it and remember to keep it unplugged when you're not playing it. The battery will last a lot longer that way. Sterlings have a nice Fender Jazz style neck but the punchy tone of the Stingray. It's a tank and should last forever as long as it's taken care of.

Thanks a lot man. After playing a Rickenbacker for the past 2 years without exception, i'm still getting used to this one. The next is a monster, and the frets (i think) are much wider. Also, this whole active pickup thing is new to me, but the tone is out of this world. No other bass sounds like a Rickenbacker, but I haven't heard any bass that sounds like a MusicMan either.
