Ok, here it is, the best of the best, if you could go out and buy any bass what would it be? My next purchase is a new bass and I'm defineatly looking for some high quality stuff here. Right now I'm pretty set on an Music Man Fretless Sterling, but I'm going to need to get a new fretted bass sometime after that too.

So if money is no object what would you buy?

If I could get anything I would get either a:

Status The Retro-Active 'P'

a Rickenbacker 4003 - you know what they look like.

or a MusicMan Sterling.

The Sterling combines the sound of StingRay with the feel of the Fender Jazz.

Already got it :D, only a 410 hlf not the 810 though.

And cubby I defineatly agree with the Sterling, that's why it's at the top of my list. I'll have to take a look at some ric's hadn't really thought about them much. Another bass I've thought about is a Warwick 5 string Thumb Bass.

No they're the same amp, the Anniversary is just in the old style colours and looks a little prettier. There's a couple cosmetic differences and the mid range selection nob is labeled a little differently I believe, but functionaly they're identical. Either way it's a great amp, just a matter of which look you like better, I liked the old blue/silver look over the new all black look.

Isn't the AV also hand-wired?

I'm probably gonna be getting one next month (AV head w/ 8x10 cab). But if the only difference is cosmetic I may just get the classic and save myself some money

They're the same thing, mine only cost me an extra $50 for the AV and for me that was worth it for the different look. But you're not missing out on anything other than maybe resale value down the road.

Ok... money not an issue... let's see...

I totally agree with lucky13sp on the Flea bass.
The Modulus Flea has to be one of the best basses ever.

If you want to get something more personal,
why not get a custom bass. Then you can decide
what your bass is gonna be like yourself.
There are alot of good luthiers out there.
What about a custom David King bass (www.kingbass.com).
Some of them look so funky!!!
Or, you could ask good, old Michael Tobias to make one for you.

I dunno, probably an old-ass Fender Jazzbass or a Rickenbacker, those are my 2 dream-basses, also a Musicman Stingray
