acoustics: samick nylon string with dean markley pickup
simon&patrick 12string(made of complete cedar wood,awesome loud crisp sound)
fender 6 string,average guitar nothing special

amps: peavey bandit 112 combo and peavey classic chorus combo both made in the early 80s,really ballsy amps

effects: boss rc-20 looper-boss ME-30 multi fx( love the deley,ring mod,pitch shift)

for acoustic i use: ibanez digi delay-danelectro phase&tremolo-boss bf2flanger-MXR-dis1 and i have this microphone reverb toy that i use for guitar,put on controls on high and you get great distortion

What do you think of the RC-20 and the ME-30?

I am looking for a alternative to lugging most of my modulation effects around.....

i thought you had the RC-20?

its my first loop device,so i dont have much to compare to,but it is pretty cool. i can record pretty clear loopswith guitar and computer stuff(fruity loops),not crystal clear,but good enuff. keyboards i need to raise the volume up high to get it to record decently.

my only beef with the rc-20 is you cant bank up and down between loops.


the ME-30 is good too,you have a bunch of distortions to chose from,OD,vintage,blues,metal,fuzz ectect. EQ,noise gate. i love the ring mod and the expression pedal in general.

my beefs with this are: you can only use one modulation at a time(theres flanger termolo,ptich shift,and chorus) i like using termolo and flanger together,but nooooooo. and you cannot tweak delay times,no reverse delay,or holding delay features.
the ME-33 may have some of these things that the ME-30 is lacking,i never bothered to check it out.

all in all there pretty decent toys.

I have the RC-20, Just wanting other opinions on it......

Do you find it overloads REALLY easy with a guitar?

And yeah, a real time back up down would be nice, and a trigger to start the recording and select overdubbing. (Use the switch to switch between bank and a external trigger for overdubs would be WAY better, but then I hate the trigger pads on it).

And a ME-33 or GT-3 or Gt-6 are in my future I believe.

i duno what you mean by -overload-..but some time its hard for me to balance out the loop and what im playing on guitar.

im gonna try running the rc-20 into one amp and guitar into another mabey that will be easyer who knows

I find the RC-20 clips ALOT with my rig.

Way to often in fact. Adds nasty digital distortion to my signal.

Not good at all in my mind.

hmmm i wouldnt say i get distortion with mine,its not a crystal clear sound,but nothing is too bad for me with it.....

.....what could you use to clear something up like that??

the guitarist of siansperic uses a korg kaoss pad in his rig,he told me that when you plug a guitar into it it gets all fuzzy and distorted,what do you do to make it sound decent?

Yeah, he uses that and a Akai Headrush....A pile of stuff. Both guitar players had interesting set-ups.

I saw them in Ottawa (sianspheric), one of the proud 12 people out to see them last time they were through.

And nothing, my kaoss pad sounds really clean. Maybe he has a dud. That seems to happen a lot with them. (The Khoas pad that is).

I just find I get a lot of clipping with it. There seems to be nothing I can do to clean it up. I just send alot of time messing with volume on everything in my set-up now. I just find the Akai and DL-4 have never have that problem. Most of the time I live with clip, as it kills my distortion tone to turn the pedals down to meet the level input of the sampler.

hmm i dont have the problems you do with the rc-20....could using so many other effects with it cause this to happen?

i just use my me-30 with it pretty much

im thinking of getting either the kaoss pad or head rush...or both!
i read abunch of reviews on harmony central about it,most of them say it breaks down within a year or so,and some other negitive things.

i saw sian in T.O and london just this past febuary,good shows...where are from fiveways??

I have had my Kaoss pad for 4 years now.....Not a single repair.

And the Akai headrush is amazing. A totally underrated delay.

I'm living in Ottawa via Kingston (The HAPPIEST PLACE IN ONTARIO!!!!).

It isn't the effects, mostly it is my gain pedals. That is probably why you don't really have the problem. try sticking your MXR Distortion+ in the set-up and it might start doing it.....Oh well....
