and theyre just the ROCk groups.
yes, user, sonic touth rocks! ;)
in all sincerity:
sonic youth, the pixies, man or astroman, shai hulud, at the drive-in, yo la tengo, u2, archers of loaf, blonde redhead, fugazi, denison marrs, faraquet, pearl jam, girls against boys, kinski.
the list goes on and on. those are the bands i consider 'rock' i guess. loud distorted stuff... i dunno. some of those fit under experimental better i suppose.
as far as making my guitar sound like favourite groups.. the closest i've come is man... or astro-man? get a twin reverb. a mosrite ventures or hofner hollowbodywith single coil pickups and bigsby vibrato. a 'vintage' rat distortion pedal. and a fender reverb unit. dwell 4, mix 8, tone 8. play hard, fast, and loud.

I'm confused - is there an actual difference between rock groups, and groups?
I've seen the beatles, mbv, slowdive and depeche mode listed there, and I would bare my *rse in binns window before i would ever consider any of those rock.
If Pantera rock, the smiths, BY DEFINITION, do not rock.
Will somebody clear that up for me?
As for my favourite ROCK group?
The Darkness - soon to be biggest band in the world.
Led Zepplin
QOTSA
Radiohead

What about phish? They are supposed to be this wicked cult following band that does a wicked live show. Are they any good?
I heard that they pick a CD and then play it live. Like one night they choose a Led Zepelin CD then played it live during one of their shows. They just pick random CDs and do covers all night.
Ben & Jerry's also had a flavour named after them called phish food.
Just wondering if they are any good? Maybe I'll check them out.
