is it possible for posters to get ther own avatars?

Avatars may be coming to GeekChat soon. The boards have the avatar capability, but we've disabled them until we get a better feel for the amount of bandwidth the site utilizes. Of course we also have to consider the extra download time avatars add for you geeks viewing the boards.

If we enable them, we will have to decide whether users will be able to post their own avatars or not. What do you all think? Avatars, or no avatars?

Dunno about this forum, but on mine users can link to images on their own webspace for their avatars, which would mean your bandwidth is unaffected.
