These guys can get some amazing sounds from their guitar rigs! They are definitely not rock and roll, their music is very ( glacially ) slow and quietly calm, but IMHO, very cool. Check them out. http://www.brainwashed.com/sotl

There rig used to be up an the old site....
I believe it was 2 DOD FX94 4 second sampler delays, a Boss super feedbacker, and a couple other things.....
If you were interested that is

hey...
we have BRIAN MCBRIDE's 1996 rig from stars of the lids in the archives. we'll post it in the "archived" rig posting sometime next month.
here's a teaser...
thinline tele > boss comp > boss super feedbacker > boss ps-2 > boss ce-3 chorus > dunlop volume > dod 4 sec sampler > boss delay (dd-3?) > alesis midiverb > dod 4 sec sampler > fender vibroverb
interviewed him after a show at stinkweeds in tempe az. we didn't have a chance to get to chat with the other guitarist... :(

This past November I saw Stars Of The Lid in Baltimore and Brian Mcbride was playing a pink Fender Mustang. He alot of rack gear and alot of pedals which were really tough to see because of how they play with just there projectors and no light. But it was a great show and I was wish they would play around again so I could see them.

Boy was I off with the leslie head and cab. Maybe I am confusing the stars rig with tomorrorlands rig. When I saw stars in Baltimore he was using a moogerfooger.

It could be an Ooh Wah, they have really subtle paint jobs (opposed to the Ringtone, with that cartoon phone on top), and could easily appear white under the lights...
There's no way to be sure, but I'm betting on the Ooh Wah.

the boss ps series looks like a ps-2, though it could be a ce-3 under that light. i'm betting more on ce-3.
pearl analog delay [board with the dl4, the red and the shape of the knobs is why i am guessing it is a pearl]

Not a Pearl; the AD-08 has a different switch

According to the old guitargeek site, Brian Mcbride used both a Ps-2 and ce-3, In a few live clips ive seen I can defiently hear the ps-2(one of my favorite pedals!).

The rig in the pic is wiltzie's and from what i can remember from the gig I'm changing my mind, and saying its a PS-2. the mystery white pedal is the only one he didn't have in birmingham.
guitar wise, Mcbride had a thin line tele, art pre amp, eb volume, alesis midiverb 4 and a vox combo, looked smaller than an ac30 maybe something with 2x10s

I just saw them in Philadelphia this past weekend. I got a really good look at Brian McBride's board, and the light blue-ish Boss pedal (which I also thought was a Pitchshifter at first) turned out to be a Harmonist (HR-2).
I don't have any pics, so I'm afraid you'll just have to take my word for it. But if anyone else here was at the same show, feel free to confirm.

the one in the photo appears to be a ps-3, looks like too much writing on it for hr-2 BUT
But
They are changing pedals nearly every show. wiltze had a few more kicking around in montreal....so who really knows.

I forgot to mention there was a strip of duct tape on the pedal as well. I could only make out part of the word "Harmonist" (the first 3 or 4 letters) when I was standing directly over it. Maybe that's why it looks like there's more text from a distance?

but not enough knobs. it almost looks like a super hardon in that photo [one knob on hte far left]. illogical, but there isnt much else it could be from the vex line.

the lighting makes it hard to tell, but I think you're right. assuming there aren't any knobs missing.
