Does anyone know how these two pedals stack up against each other? I know that everyone likes the syb-3, but I heard that the Ibanez is comparable soundwise, actually tracks better, and of course it's cheaper.

Well, I went w/ the SB7. I've never actually owned the syb-3, so I can't actually A/B them, but from what I remember of the Boss, the Ibanez actually tracks a lot better. The sounds are pretty decent, some settings are very comparable to the Bass Micro-Synth.

Best part--it's at least $30-60 bucks cheaper.

the boss has issues with tracking that can be a bit of a problem. this is becuase it's a genuine synth with its own oscillators for sound generation, that relies upon tracking the pitchh to reproduce a note.

the ibanez avoids this because it is not a genuine synthesiser. whereas the boss is actually generating whole new waveforms, the ibanez uses clever filtering and suchlike to alter the source sound.

really, its not worth getting picky about the boss being 'genuine' though, it's about the sound you want, and they both have some good sounds, so just play around with em and see which floats your boat.
