This is less a suggestion to the wonderful Guitargeek chiefs of staff and the Guitargeek.com site than it is to the Geekchat forum surfers.
This place is becoming less and less an informative, friendly discussion board and more and more a slag down the bands of today and give newbies the finger board. It seems like if you're not a noise rocker then you're blacklisted somehow, and you can't post a question without having the gear or bands or styles mentioned therein slagged down.
Please.. STOP THE HATING! I mean, God knows everyone's entitled to an opinion, but if someone's only asking an innocent question then don't jump on him and scream in his ear that his favorite band sucks! Give the kids a break.
true... all the gear in the world doesn't make me a great geetar-player!

We agree, and strongly urge the contributors to these forums to be courteous and allow others to share their opinions without being chastised. We have no tolerance for trolls who simply hang out on the boards to find people to butt heads with.
With that in mind, please report offensive, counter-productive posts to a moderator.

I TOTALLY HAVE TO AGREE,
I mean jeeze some poor kid asks a question about what kind of rig his favorite band uses, and instead of useful information he gets totally shot down and basically called a loser for liking that band.
THATS STUPID!!!!!!

I'm not a noise rocker in ANY way and I don't really feel blacklisted. and even if I wrote so much, I still consider myself a newbie (I subscribed 2 mouth ago), and I learned so many things from this site!!! it's been a real manna for me!!!
I wrote several threads (most has been ignored... sigh!!!) but no one attacked me... sometime I've been a little bit too rude, but when it comes to ignorance, I tend to lose control...
actually, in the prospective of a newbie, I didn't felt that anger going on... maybe guitargeek's bosses should write down a few rules for the new dudes, but not a real disclaimer, coz no one is gonna read it...
The only real problems arise when people start mentioning band names. If the name of ANY major label modern rock band surfaces, then there is hell, no matter what the thread's about. I've seen it happen to plenty of threads including one or two of my own.

I think one of the problems is that any 'newbie' is by design going to be influenced by current geetar bands, and too many old -timers (like me) are trying to show them that it was better years ago, modern life is rubbish, and this was all fields when I was a kid.
just don't mention creed or incubus, and you should be OK.
them 2 bands REALLY seem to get some people riled up......!

I don't think it's a real problem. personally I think that incubus' and cred's guitarists suck. plain simple: when I read someone gloryfying them, I just say what I think, but I give reasons!!!
it's a forum, this is the way it is supposed to be...
the problem is ignorance: a lot of dudes don't know music, fon't know history, don't even know how to play properly, and they spit sentences about this or that... they have no respect, but neither a background...
I guess it's really the classic argument between the kids playing video games and old timers trying to educate them about the old days. But you can't deny that it HAS gotten out of hand here.
Personally I don't glorify bands as much as I defend them. I think as musicians we really do need to keep an open mind to music.. there's plenty of critics, do we really need more?

I agreee with everything u guys are saying, but what i am trying to say that if someone asks about a rig they shouldnt get slammed about the band. SAVE THE BAND SLAMMING FOR POSTS JUST ABOUT THE BAND!

Okay, I'll stop the Saliva and New Found Glory bashing if everyone else does too. I don't think theres any hope for accepting Line 6 though is there? Now thats some hate that could start wars. Anyways I think stratocaster is right... It's not really that big of a problem, but I also agree that we should save those comments for people who some on and say "Creed Rules!!!" as opposed to someone who ways "What effects does Mark Tremonti use?". I admit that I'm guilty of it, so I'll make a change.

Thank you, Clayton.
And if someone comes on here and says 'OMG CREED IS THE BESTEST BAND EVAR' then I give my full blessing to the following bashing. ;) But only give where it's deserved!

once luciano pavorotti (?!?) said something like that: "if one knows music very well, he plays music. if one knows music not very well, he organizes music. if one deosn't know music at all, he's a critic".
