okay.
my friends both have guitars with strings practically an inch off of the fretboard. they are also hideously old. now, i have absolutely no clue how to set up acoustic bridges or work with them at all, so how do you do anything with them? is there any good site for acoustic repair work? guitar-tech.net is only electrics. ugh.
thanks for any and all help.
(btw, is there a comparable acoustic equivalent of the "making your electric guitar play great" book? cause i love that book.

The best advice I could give you would be to just take the guitars to your local guitar shop (assuming you have one) and ask them to set them up for you. If you want to try and set them up yourself, well, more power to you, you're a better man than I, gunga din. At this point, though, I just feel more confident having someone who does it for a living handle my guitar set-up. I don't know of any acoustic guitar set-up books offhand, but I'd be surprised if there weren't any, maybe check Amazon or something like that.

To adjust an acoustic's action, you need to file down the bridge and nut. I wouldn't try it because it's really easy to screw up even if you know exactly what you're doing. Take it to a shop.
