Thats good.
Well recorded, nice use of effects, good use of panning.
The only thing i'd alter is the level of the high pitched melody panned right at 00.53, maybe turn it down a touch? Maybe not.
Very impressive, downloading yr other mp3's/media as i write:)

thanx. it is a very rough mix, but i know the sound yer talking about, it can be a little piercing. the other mp3 is an old track from my band. we're currently home recording--the track on the site is really pretty outdated. did you find the drums hitting hard enough? i've been questioning the drums tracks alot today.
nice one coldbuggin!
i was kinda surprised when it ended though - was that the whole track? i was just getting into it...
:)
cheers!

thanx! that version is kinda incomplete. i've been working on that one and two others (as well as putting a band recording together--ugh, so fun but so time consuming). i'll let you know when that one is more together...:D
very cool!
How did you create the drum track?
What did you use to layer the tracks?
What is "ppl"?

Hmph. When it started out I thought it was going to be a long analog track, the feedback with nothing else really beat-wise along with it for such a long time really gave that impression.
The beat is very cool. It's a bit repetitive. The idea is cool. I think you need to make it "clearer" at the beginning that it's going to be a structured song, and do more with it with layering and more frequent, but less obvoius contrast.

the drums were made from turntables, samples, acid, and sound forge
i used acid as a multitracker for this song
ppl is my secret weapon. the phase loop lock. a guy down my street makes this thing and its BONKERS.
thanx for listening.
ive got a much better song in progress, ill post it here when its done. :D

You sure it isn't a phase locked loop, PLL? That's a common electrical device, often used for generation of clock frequencies for delays and for frequency followed oscillation.

hey, this one is very textured.
i used:
fender ultra strat, space station, rat 2, small clone, dm-2, dd-6, and a magic stomp into an ac-15

nice one!
i feel the bass and drums need to be way louder though...
cheers!

thanx! i know they are pretty buried in the mix right now. i guess i spent so much time on the guitar textures and the way they weave in and out of one another that i rushed the bass and drums (which i normally love doing)...you've inspired me to improve them. :D

cool - but i still think they could be louder... if they were really upfront and punchy, it'll make it sound really powerful!
that's just my opinion though and i tend to have my drums and bass pretty in yer face.
love the guitar textures - really nice arrangement!
cheers

Mmm this makes my ears smile
Keep up the sounds man :)
Very nice... I love stuff like this.

"new1" has no or very little space station.
"3" has lots of it all over
and "from atop corcovado" (in my signature) has a little bit of it in the chorus.
i don't think they are worth what they are going for now, however, synth strings sound very different from the string effect the space station gives. i believe 5ways left a lowbudget way to get close to the space station string sounds using a pitch shifter and a crappy reverb pedal, plus volume swell. you might want to try that unless you find a space station for less. i think its worth $150 tops.
hey coldbuggin - just listened to "new1" and "corcovado"
really nice man - love what you're doing with the drums and i love the risks you take with harmony and dissonance
corcovado sounds like a tune from a soundtrack album - maybe from a david lynch movie or something - really great!

thanks! :D
i certainly appreciate it being a david lynch film and all. the drums for both corcovado and new 1 were done within a couple days of eachother so i think they have a similar glitched beat flavor, im happy you are into that. they're be more songs to come!

This is really nice...it grows on me each time I hear it...I would like to try a different drum track with it...I wonder what you recorded on...really drifty and psychedelic just like I like it...just really cool.
