Head on over here (http://www.microcuts.net/uk/), click on 'Videos' at the top in 'News' section and download 'Chris and Dom Jam'.
When watching this, i couldn't help but notice that amazing fuzz tone coming from Chris.
I understand it's fuzz, but, there's something else on there, sounds like it's being filtered in some way.
Ideas?
It maybe nothing unusual, but am just saying it's a cool sound. :D :p

There is the phasing from the camera moving (as it is recrding on it's internal mic).
Does he have a bass pod in his rig?

Right.
I'm not overly sure what his bass rig is, i would sure like to find out though, anybody know somewhere?
But, the thing is, that's his 'usual' fuzz tone. Whether it's recorded or live, it's just rather amazing.

I'm assuming it is a emulated bass synth, or maybe a EH Bass Microsynth. It's a really nice sound that defidently isn;t a traditional fuzz sound.

That was freaking amazing. Not only the tone but that guy plays great. Those 16th notes flowed so well. Yeah I hear phase or modulation of some sort but there is no way I could define it.

Very cool man! Can't Tell you about the effects I think it might be from how loud it was for the camera.

It kind of seems like it could be the camera, but maybe there is some sort of effect on the bass, sorry I can't tell you, but I do think it sounds cool and very good playing.

I saw the very amazing Party of Helicopters live and the bass player in that band uses a RAT for his fuzz tone. WOWZAH!
Eric
my bassist had been using a rat for that, but now its a color sound tone bender.. slightly cooler sound.
