ok, i've been trying to read up on this "miraculous" new tuning system that is supposed to keep your guitar in way better tune regardless of chord or placement on the neck of a note or chord. it seems to be pretty true, alot of reputable people are backing it, but any fool that thinks i'm going to shell out $250 US for this has obviously lost their minds.
I mean i know it's patented and Buzz want's to milk this for as much as he can until the patent runs out in a couple years and then it will be common knowledge, but i mean come on, that's just lame.
Someone on here must know how it works? the most i've been able to get from my research is a couple blurbs about how piano's used to be tuned like guitar's but then they changed it to something better that sounds alot better, i'm guessing buzz modeled his "system" after this but i'm not that smart i can't figure it out on my own! come on guys help share the knowledge!!

no no it's not the tuner's it's a new way to setup the guitar, i think it involves a new nut, setting up the intonation a bit different and tuning each string slightly off a bit... or something like that? but it's the details on each of these three things that i want to find out

ya, there is one, but be prepared for absolutely no info on how it works, just that "it's great, i can play and d chord then an A chord and it actualy sounds good !"

in my books, this is mr credible,

anyways ya, come on, some one shed some light on this "tempered" tuning system
Funny thing, I always wondered what the hell the Buzz Feiten is too.
I heard it's a way of setup when you build the guitar. The only way to know it used the Buss Finten system is to look for the little sticker when you buy the guitar. I heard that it's a method of achieving perfect intonation when building the guitar. It allows you to have all the saddles in the middle position with perfect intonation. That way when you buy the guitar you have lots of movement in both directions so you can adjust the intonation eaily in the future.
That is jsut my speculation and I have yet to prove that this is true cause I too still have no clue what the Buzz Feiten system is. I've only seen one washburn guitar in my life that used this system and I didn't check out the saddles to prove my theory.
I have the Guitar Player Repair Guide. I'm gonna go check it out fast before I click Submit Reply. Nope nothing in there. Not I can Submit.
I checked out your link on the Buzz Feiten. I guess I was wrong. It's a totally different method of setting intonation. I thought it was a way of perfecting normal intonation. I also didn't know you could retrofit a guitar with it. I thought it had to be used during the construction process.
Hmmm...I'm gonna go check out the Buzz Feiten homepage and see if he describes the science of it in detail instead of just saying it allows you to play in tune.

lol no it doesn't, i looked, but by all means have a looksie, maybe you'll see something i missed
i'm pretty sure the system can be applied to the guitar in the production process and retrofited to any guitar already assembled

From what I have heard, people say that it is just compensating a nut and that guitar builders have already been doing this for years and piano builders many many years before Buzz decided to patent it. Thats just what I have heard, I read afew good articles on it in the newsgroups if you information on it.
great tunning system. If you hate that your guitar has certain "spots" where its slightly out of tune, Buzz's system takes care of it.
simply put, he took a lot of time researching into what would be the best distances from the nut to the saddles for each string so that the guitar would be the most in tune on the most frets.(actualy, its kinda difficult to explain) I guess it was a mathematical equation.

Don't all Washburn guitars come stocked with this thing automatically? You could buy one of them for less than $250...
As quoted from www.washburn.com
"The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is standard on all USA made Washburn guitars and basses and is featured on select imported models. Washburn is the only major guitar manufacturer to incorporate the system as a standard feature on production guitars."

ok people.... i already knew all this...... i'm not looking for another guitar.... and i've read through most of the buzz feiten page.. i want to know those specific mathematical formulas without having to pay the insane $250 to get the kit to "learn" how to do it
