View Full Version : Stupid Questions
Just thought a Stupid Questions section might be useful (altho I'll prolly be the only one starting threads in it lol) -- because I have a stupid question concering electric guitars but I don't really know where to correctly post it.
BTW -- this is a great forum and thanks to all you guys up top who put this together and all the archive stuff -- I'm really just starting to get heavy back into electric, played mostly acoustic for the last ten years or so, and I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned, how helpful people are, and how cool it is to 'talk shop' with guitarists of all styles.
Okay -- this is right out of Spinal Tap --
The other night we had a fairly severe storm front move through -- lightning, thunder, the whole bit -- I own a tri-level home and play in a room on the top floor -- so while i was playing as this storm moved through, I could hear the lightning crackling in my amp --
Is it possible to attract lightning or is there a risk of a lightning strike while playing during a storm like this?
(told you it was a real Spinal Tap question -- lol :D )

Attracting a lightning strike would be a danger only if you have your amp cranked up to eleven.

thank god it only goes to 10 -- phew -- dodged a bullet there
lol
Thanks gururyan --
i kind of thought it wasn't a good idea but unplugging during a storm is a real good idea too -- maybe i'll just unplug each time i'm done
and now that you've jogged my memory, we did have a vcr fried by lightning once -- thank god for insurance :)
(that 11 thing tho is true too, right?)
:p
once i was playing my guitar and i went to turn on an old busted ass lamp and i felt a pretty strong buzz from the lamp to me through my left hand through my strings. good thing i was only playing through my tiny practice amp...

Well what do you figure these apes eat?
Uh mostly bread i suppose...
Thats funny because as a race they've developed no baking skills...
I heard they can talk sometimes, you know, things like 'yes, please' or 'can i have some more bread'
