well i just got a theremin yesterday and its pretty neat, but i was wondering if there was any certain tricks you can do to make even wierder sounds than you get just moving your hand up and down and whatnot, i think its an .....optical theremin...... when light hits it, it stops buzzing and whatnot. thank you for your time.

Well, you got an opto-theremin, so there is very very little you can do with it other than make a pitch go up and down. You can try wiggling your hand around, but again, since it's an optotheremin, it won't be nearly as dramatic or interesting as a real theremin.

is it true that you need perfect pitch to operate them? can you use it in songs alright?

its really hard to incorporate in anything. i'm going to sell it for about $30. i hope someone will buy it
i say run it through strange pedals. that usually does the trick for things you want more sounds out of. for example: cheap keyboard drumbeats run through a microphone and a blue box sound awesome.
yep.

it was ridiculous. its an educational video on organic foods.
the bluebox drum beats were in a scene of scary fast strobe light action, which lead into a claymation dream sequence for a mellow song.
EDIT: i mp3ulized it: Organic Foods (http://volsus.lostdomain.org/hot_rats/OrganicFoods.mp3) dont even bother understanding the words, they are BS.
