I've been pondering this for a long time now...
whats the difference between a riff, a melody, and a chord progression?
i'm pretty sure that the three can overlap, ala Hendrix 'chordal melodies', a chord based riff, a melodic riff...
but what are the accepted definitions? those three terms just confuse me..

i think this is right:
if the progression is 1-4-5 in E minor,
then the chords are Eminor to Aminor to Bminor
in stead of playing chords you could play a riff then move that around to the chords
eminor================aminor==============bminor

then the molody is the part i guess the lead guitar plays over either the chords or the riffs
this is finger tapped on the b string:
eminor================aminor=================bmino r

ok that should sum it up, the melody can be alot simpler but usually consists of notes in the chord
the edits were just to put the tabs right.
