You know, i've been playing guitar for 7 years and never got any of my guitars set up properly or the intonation set. (i know y'all are gonna lay into me for that one).

anyway, i've decided get the intonation on my SG set, and i want to know if i could do it myself, or if its complicated enough that i should just have a pro do it.

a friend of mine told me about messing witht screws on the bridge until each strings 12th fret harmonic is identical to it's 12th fret regular note, but i tried that, and it didn't do anything (i know that this isn't setting the intonation, but he said it would help).

so any input you guys have would be appriciated

thanks

first: get a very good tuner. my guitars have been set up properly only when I decided to spend 100€ on a boss TU-2, really.

second: it's true what your friend said. you have to find the "sweet spot" where the harmonic and the fretted note are the same!!! it's worth of the time, believe me!!! you will have your Eb7sus4 finally sounding good...

you have to set up the guitar everytime you change gauge & action, and you can do it only with new string (that have to be streched).

if I were in you, for the first proper set up I would go to a shop, and then do it by myself in the future. coz you won't have to mess a lot with it, if a luthier has done a good job!
