Marketplace suggestion?

I constantly see posts for people wanting to offload some equipment or pedals, so I was wondering if you wanted to start a marketplace area.

This could be a place where someone could promote their eBay auctions or even offer it to the Geeks here. Obviously, any and every transaction is done at their own risk, and in no way would Guitargeek.com be liable. But, it would give people a little area to show off what they are getting rid of, and those looking to buy stuff wouldn't have to look far.

I'll 3rd the motion... people would usually sell for cheaper to their fellow geeks :D

I posted a similiar question a while back...here's the response from Introspecshun:

"This is something we'll consider, though it veers a bit from what our designs for the site are. Personally, I think it's a great idea.

However, If we promote the sale of used gear on our boards, it could cause problems for our affiliates, which in turn would make it harder for us to maintain the site."

Hmm.. maybe if we accidently turn one of the not widely used boards into a marketplace... secretly... Like the bass repair section :)

Agreed, I see that it would undermine the effect of your sponsor's ads if you are condoning the sale of used gear. Maybe there can be a space where people can post their eBay auctions. Maybe there's some way you guys at guitargeek.com can get to be an eBay affiliate or partner. (not entirely too sure how that all works).

Anyways, I am interested to see what happens. Keep the ideas flowin'. :)

well, i guess people could technically just start a thread regarding eBay auctions and then people can just post there. one for guitars, one for stompboxes, etc. etc.

and that way guitargeek wouldn't necessarily be endorsing eBay or intentionally stepping on the toes of affiliates.

although, in that case we should all do our part by sending in a few dollars to them or buying at musicans friend through the guitargeek site. :)
