Anyone reccomend an affordable (I don't mean cheap and nasty, just affordable) fuzz pedal for bass or tell me if I can use guitar ones or anything. Thanks

Use can use guitar ones. My bass player used to use a Big Muff reissue, until he crushed it. Then he moved on to a Boss HM-3, i think. He used to use a Marshall Guv'nor and really liked that, until he broke that one too. Go big muff or Guv'nor.

Another bassist used a bass overdrive from Boss, but it crapped out on him in under a year.

My old bass player was using my Big Muff for a while and I thought it sounded pretty awesome. Its not really a fuzz, but if you jack it up it will give you that "my speakers are about to explode" sound in a good way.

My two cents:

- EBS MultiDrive: I can't stop recommending this pedal. It's mainly an overdrive pedal, but with that little switch on the 'Flat' setting and the gain-knob cranked, you get some sort of a fuzz... it does the trick for me! Plus, the overdrive is so awesome sounding.

- Pro Co Rat, cranked this thing is something between crazy buzzsaw distortion and fuzz...

Umm, well, it was a reissue and was kind of beat up when i joined the band...but during one show, he launched himself off the drum riser onto the pedal (for a part that required dist. bass). Well, he was wearing Doc Martens of some massive shoe and he crushed it...the thing wrapped around his shoe and he couldnt' get it off. It was kinda funny. He then tried to unhook it and somehow ended up swinging the cord around with the pedal on its end. Dangerous, and somehow one of the tamer shows we played...

a bigmuff if you use a tube amp (it sounds horrible on transistors) or/and a boss odb-3 (overdrive, distortion and fuzz!), the boss is a nice box to start with

i myself use them both on bass, and a old 130 watts all tube non-master-volume head. I use the BigMuff as an overdrive to warm up the tubes..... loving every minute.....

damn, just buy a bigmuff anyway, all bassplayers and guitarist have to own one!

the best thing maybe of the muff is, you blow away all those gear heads who need a special battery for there opto-hydro19" comprotor, for that nifty sparkle on the 25th fret....... put everything on 11 and let the muff do the work
