How is it? Have you played a Travis Bean, or a Kramer? If so how do they compare? Can you tell i really want a aluminum neck guitar from the 4 posts about them in 2 days:)

I don't like how Kramer sounds...thogh I only played one before

no experience with Bean

My Vaccaro X2 has its own unique sound....sustain is good, but the tone is a little bit thin and metallic, though changing the pickup would help

neck pickup has really sweet cleantone IMO

I changed the bridge pickup into SH-4 JB, but not satisfied..
any suggestion?.....actually I'm thinking about replacing both pickups...

I would go the Sonic Youth route, Dimarzio Super Distortion....that is just me though.

i think what i'd do if it was my guitar was put a super d at bridge and some kind of fairly evenly voiced hum at neck.. the kind of flatly EQed thing that would be used by a jazz artist.

It seems like you are talking about the same thing...

I would try this setup as soon as possible

I'm totally ****ed up everytime my guitar sound is eaten by
keyboard and les paul...
It's always hard to find the right EQ....

Get the Super distortion for the bridge first, that should fix half your problems.....unless you use the neck pickup alot(I have no idea what style, amp, effects, or anything about your playing, so it is hard for me to suggest beyond that)

shane and i have pretty similar tastes... "great minds think alike" kind of thing, i suppose :) but yeah, we were pretty much talking the same thing... only, he concentrated on the output of the neck hum idea, while i concentrated on the EQ... but they're generally both things: low output, flat EQ.

you'd have a good, articulate pickup at the neck.. and that ****ing nasty, beauteously raspy thing at bridge.

Well, I use neck pick up a lot..

My band plays something between the cure/ joy division/ NO

but we are going into MBV, Lush, SY

My current setup is

Vaccaro- Frantone Brooklyn OD- Turbo rat- HM2/Frantone creampuff- Dano eq- Guyatone FL- CE5(soon to be vibe moded)- smallstone- EHX DDM- DD-20

and I'm going to get magicstomp, teaser stallion, volume pedal, and boss RPS10 or PS-3

you're probably not going to get the exact sounds of those bands you mentioned, but somehow... i doubt that is what you are after :)... with your rig and style in mind, i think i would probably still go the route shane and i mentioned.

you really would have a very nice and flexible guitar with those pickups, i think... and i've managed to get cure and JD sounds with articulate jazz hums before (although, to get closest, i need single coils)... and really, with their flat EQ, they tend to take to things insanely well. the super d, on the other hand... it takes to things great, but has this very.. raspy, cutting sound.. that is just very distinct to it. the combo would be amazing on a vaccaro, IMO.

it doesn't mean a thing, it's a common italian surname, but... "vaccaro", in italian, means a farmer who works with cows.

you oughta know.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I've wanted to buy one, forever. Now that you mentioned it on here, I will watch the prices of Vaccaro guitars sky rocket on ebay. The dreaded Fiveways factor.

Any news with this company? I haven't been able to find much on them.
