is this a joke? seriously, everyone go jump on the white stripes bandwagon. shouldn't polls like this be more directed for legendary artists whose effect and impact can be seen rather than some fad artist who everyone thinks is doing something new, go listen to a stooges record everyone, makes jack white look like the little boy that he really is.

If you looked in the dictionary for 'white stripes' you would find 'over rated' and 'over hyped'

This is what annoys me about being in a band trying my hardest to write great songs and let people hear them, loads of crappy bands who've just learned to play and have a 'gimmick' all these bands that just sound the same, where are the 'Smashing pumpkins' and 'Rage against the machines' of our generation, the 'Guns and Roses' and 'Led Zepplins'...

Every just seems to want a piece of the same pie, it's in my local 'scene', its in the magazines, its on TV, its in the movies. The amount of bands that are in magazines as the next big thing, i look through my old mags from years ago and see these bands, who people can't even remember.

Oh shut up and stop taking things so seriously :p. Were not building a monument to anyone, just asking a question.

I've yet to hear the first one, but De Stilj was my introduction, and it's still my favorite. Elephant's damn good, though.

jack white is out to be a legend, and he's trashing legends in the process, such as stevie ray vaughn. so obviosly he thinks that he's above him, and a lot of people hold stevie up extremely high

I think it's stupid to be arguing about this stuff... I hate hearing about "legends". Give me a break. I'm not a Hendrix, Zepplin, or Stevie Ray fan... but I appreciate what they do just like I appreciate what Jack White does. The fact that we consider these people "legends" is just stupid. I mean, isn't it all about making music that people can connect with and just get a good vibe off of? Screw the status thing, if people can make honest music I think we should appreciate them. Let Jack White do what he wants, at least he tries.

i agree. You cant listen to the legends all the time. I hate when people say music hasn't been the same since blah blah. It's true that rock isn't the same it never will be, music eventually fades whether we like it or not.

I don't recall anyone saying that the White Stripes are a legendary band...
