Hello GuitarGeeks,

I've had a rash of emails/questions regarding the rig diagrams lately. I'd like to get a poll going to see what your opinion is...

Here's the type of questions i've been getting:

Q: Why are the rig diagrams backwards?
(or)
Q: Why are the inputs and outputs displayed reversed? real pedals aren't made that way!
(or)
Q: Why do the GuitarGeek setups read left to right? It seems backwards since most inputs on real stompboxes are on the right with the out puts on the left.

You get the point... we've covered this in the FAQ with this response:

A: The main goal of GuitarGeek.Com is to trace the signal flow of each player's rig. Reading information from left to right is second nature for most of us so that's why we chose to chart the rigs that way. Despite this little switcharoo we think you'll figure it out.

BUT.... I want the site and the diagrams to be as easy to figure out as possible. All the questions as of late have made me wonder if we really have? My question to my fellow Geeks would be...

Should we change the setups to reflect real signal flow/order?

Be brutally honest! I'd really like your thoughts on the matter - please go beyond the simple "yes" or "no" of the poll if you have time...

thanks again!

I think you should change it to reflect how gear really works. I understand the idea that reading left to right is natural for us English speakers, but in reality I think most guitar players have no trouble thinking right to left when dealing with signal flow of guitar rigs.

And then there is also the issue that people who don't speak english as a primary language would more than likely get slightly confused by the signal flow switcharoo.

Just some things to consider. :-)

I have no problem with the diagrams the way they are. I think that they are easy to read and I wouldn't change a thing.

Personnally,
Although i understand it the way it is now, it would be nice if it was orientated the way it would be if the viewer was behind the rig as if they were using it. It would negate some confusion as to the signal path on some of the more complicated diagrams.
but if its to big a job to change it, dont worry about it, its not that confusing the way it is.

Just my 2 cents
