Hey, just wondering if anyone out there wants to give me a few pointers on modifiying my bass/amp's sound. For gear i have a ESP LTD B-305 and an SWR Workingman's 12. I like the punchier sound the low end gets with alot of mid/treble, but dont like how the highs sound so loud and horn-like. My guess is you can't have one without the other, but what the hell, its worth a try to see if i can get help with it anyways.

any advice is welcome.

the one thing that i got that made it easy for me to contol my sound was an eq pedal. the one i have is a boss geb-7. its a little on the pricey side(80 bucks) but you get great control over your sound. its got 7 bands on sliders so you can actually see what you sound like. it can boost and cut 12dB i think. its really easy to use too.
if that doesnt work try getting a compressor. your highs might be peaking especially since you have a active preamp. it will even out your sound and improve your sustain.
