I am getting back into it and want to know what everybody thinks about what equipment to get. I will be doing old beatles, stones, nirvana, stone temple pilots, goo goo dolls........
Just me and the mic a 12 string and a 6 string. small bars but summer is coming so I am sure I will be out side too.
I thought 2 JBL eon g2, tripods (or eon 10 g2) sure sm57 mackie pro board($500.00) Processor for vocal(I am all ears on this one but I need good doubling echo) I thought I would plug direct to board. Ear monitor. Any suggestions????????? I am sure it is over kill but wanted to keep it open for expansion.
Any help is welcome.

i guess it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

fender makes a good, relatively inexpensive PA system and i believe there are some knobs to mix your vocals, add some reverb and what not.

shure SM57s are pretty solid.

personally, i think an ear monitor is a little too much... but, again, if you want to spend the cash then it's all good. :)

Yeah thats the fender passport system, supposed to be pretty good from what I've read... Also connects together like a small suitcase for transporting to gigs etc, quite smart...

As for suggestions I'd recommend either a small PA mixer amp and speakers or a powered mixer and small rack if you need extra space for vocal FX or adding a minidisc/CD player for backings at some point.

I'd recommed using the onboard piezo's on your guitars (if you have them) to save on kit/feedback/phase issues you get when using two mics.

Stick to a decent vocal mic (SM58) and some chorus/reverb on the guitars and you should be fine.

Best of luck, post some gig pics if you get them.

thanks for the advice. I have a tendency to over buy thinking I won't buy things twice but in reality I end up not using the total capacity of the product which is a waste. I have since tried playing with an acoustic amp out a few places(coffee houses) and feel that is the best for me now. I can always direct out in a larger place if they have a PA or I add one later. I ended up ordering a Genz Benz Shenendoah 100. I played them all and felt it sounded the best for vocal and guitar. Worse case is I sell this later and get the PA. fINANCIAL SITUATIONS ALWAYS COME AROUND WHEN i GO TO BUY pA EQUIPMENT SO THE AMP WILL DUE FOR NOW THANKS AGAIN
