You're right, I did miss some important things. Other good social topics are racism and what I consider "stupid" laws, like the General Assembly of Virginia is considering passing a law limiting the number of "unsupervised teenagers" in a motor vehicle.

The fact is I wrote that as a joke. You can basically write a song about anything. I've written three about the sex/****o industry.
I've written many nonsensical songs. I've written a scathing break-up song. You can turn anything into a song, just don't feel like you have to make it fit in to what's going on around you.

ya know, this is a real soapbox issue for me, because I'm really old and remember the old days of punk, but jesus, what a bunch of whiny bastards are calling themselves punk now. I mean, I'm not really big on the whole super-commercial skate-punk sound, but I could live with it if every song wasn't about how misunderstood they are and why don't girls like them. Jesus! Go be a goth and stop ****in' whining.

I'm not saying you can't write about that stuff, but where's the rage? Frankly, most crap that calls itself punk sounds like 80's ballads with a dunlop overdrive on a Marshall amp. Oh, and let's not forget the beatles style harmonizing.

Makes me want to pull a cult style 'deprogramming' with these bands and lock them in a room with a bunch of Jesus Lizard, Big Black, and NoMeansNo albums and see if anything worthwhile comes out the door.

Not necessarily. Some are about drugs, life experiences, or personal insightfulness.

And all three can be found on the new NOFX record.
