I don't know if he uses it on the National Anthem but, according to Green Plastic, Colin has used a Companion Distortion pedal in the past

I know he used some Japanese-made fuzz pedal on Exit Music, could it be the same one?

Possibly, but the one on national anthem sounds almost like zvex wooly mammoth if you have heard it before...a lot of mid.

they say that it is a japanese made fuzz pedal... on both national anthem and Exit Music... it could be a Zvex with the japanese writing.. thats my theory..

Colin used:

Shin Ei Companion Fuzz:
A rare and obscure japanese fuzz pedal.
Easily recognizable on Exit Music (for a film)
and Myxomatosis.

Lovetone Big Cheese:
Adopted since 2000 for the National Anthem
and then for Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box.

OK, here's the deal;

He once picked up a wedge shaped box from a pawn shop, a Companion Fuzz box.

Everywhere on the internet people claim that this unit is the Companion FY-2, as they know that Companion made the FY-2 in a wedge shaped box......

But:

The FY-2 sounds like NOTHING like the songs mentioned above. The FY-2 is a bad (in a good way) sounding fuzz on guitar but an awefull (in a bad way) sounding fuzz on bass (because it filters out all the bass due to small coupling caps and a filter).

Then: what is it?

It is the Companion Superfuzz. Only the early models were produced in a wedge shaped box, later models were in the more known Univox style red / blue / etc. boxes. The Superfuzz is a totally different fuzzbox when compared to the FY-2; it has a lot of bass, a decent fuzz and an octave up function that is aware in the circuit and sound. It can make the "Exit Music" sound only when fed directly into the mixing board (w/ some filters + compression)

Hope it helps

That's Colin's pedalboard. Looks like an FY-2 with the red Companion label.. like this (http://filters.muziq.be/files/pics/companion_fy-2_001.jpg)

Great! I've been searching for these kind of pics for a while; now I am finally wrong ;)

It is a FY-2

You know beraduur is gonna go switch out the caps on a FY-2 copy now, if he's still got one. I'd do it. I have many builds to do before that stuff!

beraduur PM to not hijack

I've tried to use it on bass; never liked it
