Right now, it's 4 am eastern time(US) and I'm studiously avoiding doing the enormous pile of english that i was meant to have sent to my teacher 4 hours ago to avoid failing fall semester...
So...I've been doing some good, hard thinking about drugs, and how I really wish i was trashed beyond my ability to concentrate, stand, sit, or form corherent thoughts. In this spirit, I advance the question: what drugs have you imbibed over your lifetime.
Me? I've done:(random order)
Alcohol
Weed
LSA
Acid
Shrooms
PCP(unhappy accident)
Morphine
Salvia
Mescaline
DXM
I have never used tobacco. The anti smoking people would be so proud.
Aspirin
Ibuprofen
Paracetamol
Caffiene
Prozac...
.....seriously though, everything but Crack.
I'm so pure:
Caffeine (hardcore!)
Alcohol
Weed
nothing, and this is a f*cking stupid thread!

DXM is dextromethorphan. It's a cough suppressant found in many over the counter medications, such as nyquil, robitussin, and coraceden. It causes the user to trip major balls. (Shows how much I know about drugs :( )
I've abused every illegal drug with the exceptions of acid, mescaline, ether, and the rock form of cocaine, but I've quit and am currently attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings with over 4 months of clean time, although I do smoke cigs like a fiend now. My life's a lot better now, IMO, and I agree that this is a pretty stupid thread.

caffiene
alcohol (gave it up recently. new girlfriend won't date drinkers)
prozac
various headache and cold killing drugs
All of them. They're having a party. PMA is passed out under my hippocampus.

Nicotine valium vicadin marijuana ecstacy and alcohoooool
...C C C C C COCAAAAAINE!!!!
heh. Actually I havent had valium, ecstacy or cocaine, but i've had in place of which copius amounts of mushrooms, salvia, various forms of ayahuasca, lsd, lsa, dmt, soma, dxm (shut up), angels trumpet (the real name escapes me at the moment), nitrous, ether and a handful of cold water extractions of t3's. Done in moderation (except pot, cigs and a period of t3's), and I'm relatively healthy as a whore.

alcohol
weed (oh yessssss)
i've done coke a few times....great feeling, while i wasn't addicted, i could see how easily one could...don't plan on continuing.
The following I've tried once, but didn't do again:
Crystal
Special K
G
Ecstacy
My "experimentation" days are over....though weed and alcohol are still awesome....lol though the two mixed together are not kind to me.

Not much, alcohol and weed.
Nicotine, alcohol, weed, hasch, coke, shrooms, poppers, ecstacy, speed, LSD, coke and heroin ... and probably a few more i can't remember.
I used to be a total drug fiend, but these days i just drink. The one i liked the most was probably LSD, cos if you learn how to make the best out of your trip, you can honestly learn a lot about how your mind works, and a bout yourself.
But my opinion is that drugs can do you more harm than good, and it's not really worth trying them cos you could like them too much and one drug has a tendency to lead you to another. You end up wasting A LOT of time and money that could be used elsewhere. ANd noone likes to see their friends go to prison, OD, go cold turkey, or die ... i saw a lot of that.
Don't get me wrong, i had a great time on drugs, but when you see how bad they can screw people up, you end up thinking that they're not worth it.

Come on, that's a bit extreme.
A junkie is someone who is addicted, most people on here just seem to have used these drugs occasionally, recreationally.

No sarcasm...
I was out one night a few months ago and they'd be doing coke before I arrived. I had one of them buzzing around telling me about how much I should start smoking weed because it's just incredible. Then moved on to a club where they had a serious discussion about the best kind of weed avaliable, including the top stuff specially grown by the US Government

that's not even true. the government still grows the same weak sh*t weed they grew in the 60's for all the experiments they do. That's why signing up for the government marijuana tests really isn't so sweet.

This is true, except Thompson was interesting to start with.
drugs have a tendency to give unintersting people the illusion that they are interesting
If I had £1 for every gonzo wannabe I've met over the years who thinks that taking drugs will make them as interesting and articulate as their hero then I'd have, well, about £7 pounds actually!
£8 if I include myself!
I once did my own Kerouac-amphetamine-experiment I sat down with a bag of speed, a pen, and a notepad and started writing. I didn't stop until the notepad was full and wrote about 70,000 words in an 8-12 hour stretch. Unfortunatley it was 70,000 words of the most incoherent nonsense ever committed to paper
I concluded that Keruoac would have written a book as good as "on the Road" with or without chemical help, because he already had it in him; the drugs just helped him shape it in a particular way. If, like me, you've not got it to begin with the drugs will not help you do anything other than make an arse of yourself.

This one statement cuts to the heart of what is wrong with 90% of people today! (Note: none of us geeks, of course :D )
People so desperately want to be like someone they've seen on TV, heard on the radio, or if they're pretentious enough, someone whose work they've read. They don't really want to produce anything of quality, of course. They just want the lifestyle. So they dress in a certain way, talk in a certain way, decorate their homes a certain way, or take certain drugs, believing this will make them just like their hero!
It suits the agend of the modern media to keep people this way, so they do nothing to encourage true individuality or creativity. What better way to make money than to trick people into thinking that watching your program or buying your records will make you who you want to be? Heaven forbid people should actually be allowed to be who they really are, rather than some bland clone of the icon-of-the-day. Hell, these days even the "heros" people seek to emulate are bland, water-down versions of media icons of the preceeding few decades. Another ten years and the pop princess all they 11 year-old girls want to be will be a more blank, more asinine version of Britney Spears. Next "rock revival" will be a bunch of cynical session pros cranking out rewrites of Blink 182 and Good Charlotte. And art students all over the English-speaking world will seek to emulate the style of Jeff Noon by consuming copious quantities of Ecstasy and Dex.

sorry, misunderstood, I'm in the worst mood I've been in for at least 5 years. for example, If you where to say "hello, you're the greatest human ever to walk on planet earth" to me I'd probably kick you in the nuts.
maybe I need some drugs....
Drugs help me achieve a desired state of conciousness. The only one of which I actually partake in while writing music is a bit of alcohol to ease in. Everything else gets me in the mood to listen, than speak. Also, I used to have these annoying tremors, like I was bothered by something but I didn't know what, in public and private, and it seems through mushrooms and booze it's let me relax in myself. Whether that's due to brain damage or a natural progression from new insight via drugs I don't think I really care. Nievety is so comforting. The only aspect of drugs that hinder creativity, as far as I'm concerned, is the sloth, laziness, you get from the ganja. So I just smoke when I'm not writing. Done aaand done.

They are illegal for a reason, but I'm not really sure what it is. 'They' say it's to protect me because drugs are dangerous and bad things will happen. According to the anti-drugs adverts if I take drugs I'll **** my playstation, steal money from my Dad end up homeless and begging money on the street.
HOWEVER
Since my early twenties I've taken, and still take, all kinds of nasty mind altering substances, and NOTHING bad has happened to me, apart from the odd bad come down from E. I've still got my play station, I've just leant my Dad a hefty sum, I own my own house and I have a well payed job.
They can't be illegal because they're bad for your heath, because then 'they' would make alcohol and tobacco illegal, wouldn't they?
They can't be illegal because they incapacitate the workforce and damage industry, because then they'd also make tobacco and alcohol illegal, because these DO cost industry millions a year in lost man-hours due to lateness and sickness.
So there is a reason but what the hell is it?
Somebody help me please it's driving me mad why are drugs illegal, what do 'they' know that I don't?

If tobacco or alcohol was discovered now, it would be made illegal.
The fact is, too much Government money relies on the tobacco and alcohol industry, to make it illegal would be a huge financial mistake.

The advert was positioned around a teenager who had no money anyway and had to sell his playstatoin/Take money to fuel his adiction, then got kicked out of his parents house because they didnt approve of him doing drugs or steeling money.
If they made everyhting that was bad for you illegal, fizzy drinks and MacDonalds would be too.
I just dont see the point of smoking or sniffing anything, you get a buzz or whatever but to feel the same again you have to take more and more to feel that same, if someone keeps getting deeper and deeper into drugs they loose money.
Alcohol is a sociable drug, you just got to know when to stop, if you're feeling down then it'll make you feel more like crap, if your having a good time then it makes you feel great.

There's some truth in that but goverments have recently realised that some of the money they lose from tobacco revenue can be made back in savings on health spending and indeed indirectly from a reduction of premature deaths and sick leave in the workforce.
The Irish Government have banned smoking in all public places (except outside!) and the British Governments are currently attempting to do a balancing act, by banning smoking in certain places they hope to limit it enough to make savings on health spending without losing all the revenue they get from tax. They also realise that the huge companies who make cigarettes won't just disappear if less people smoke, but instead diversify into other areas and produce jobs elsewhere.

when I first took drugs I was living at home and unemployed, the first drug I ever tried was cocaine. I didn't get hooked I didn't sell anything I didn't steal anything. I've continued to take drugs for 16 years and it's never escalated. I've never found I need to take more to get the same effect, admittedly although I've taken the various types of hard drug I've been careful not to get into them too deep.
If they made everyhting that was bad for you illegal, fizzy drinks and MacDonalds would be too.
Well that was kind of my point, some things, like alcohol, tobacco, and fastfood, are bad for you, but the government gives us a choice, as to whether we use them or not, but it won't trust us to be sensible with other things that are bad for us, why not?
I just dont see the point of smoking or sniffing anything, you get a buzz or whatever but to feel the same again you have to take more and more to feel that same, if someone keeps getting deeper and deeper into drugs they loose money.

The same arguments can be made against alcohol. I have friends who have become alcoholics and damaged their health and lives from drinking to much. The more they drank the more they needed to drink to 'feel that same' the deeper and deeper they got into it the more money they lost.
Yes you've got to know when to stop with alcohol but you've got to know when to stop with other drugs too, why should the government make that decision for me? If i want to take heroin why shouldn't I? If the Government can trust me to drink sensibly why can't it trust me to take other drugs sensibly?
Now imagine there's these two drugs okay, both of them make people more 'sociable', however drug A eventually makes people agressive and many people who take it get into fights, while drug B makes its users want to dance to repetetive beats and hug strangers. Which would you ban?

Well I believe people are different. Some people are weak and suck into the evil path easily, some people can smoke a doobie everyday of their lives and still function as a normal person without going into stronger **** or become a socialderogation (sp?).
In the human society there will always be people ****ing up things for others. If everybody used drugs in a moderate\safe way I don't think they would be illegale. But then there's the weak people who use it to "escape reality" and i think thats the wrong way. It should be fun but not in that kind of way.
now im just babbling **** here. yeåp aha.
Pot is illegal for a reason.
And that reason is Nylon.
[crickets chirping]
No, seriously. You can probably find some information on this on the Internet, but here's a rough outline.
In the 1920's the American chemicals company DuPont invented [cue fanfare] Nylon, which after a little experimenting they discovered they could make the most money out of by extruding into a fibre and using it to make all sorts of things. Ropes, fabrics, you name it. And it was cheap, too. Much cheaper, once mass-production kicked in than either wool or cotton.
But not cheaper than hemp.
Something had to be done to winnow out the competition, and within a few years, DuPont had become the chief lobbyist campaigning for the criminalisation of marijuana in America. Of course, they never said "we want you to backdoor all the hemp farmers so we can have a monopoly on dirt cheap fibres." The went in under the guise of "the public interest." You know, protecting the public from sex-crazed potheads. Reefer Madness, full paid for by the DuPont Corportation of America.
Is any of this sounding familiar to anyone? Yeah, this is pretty much the same line governments the world over are still using to this day. They want to protect us from the evil weed.
With some drugs, there is no clear evidence as to whether they are actually harmful, when used correctly, to you or not. Pot is not one of these drugs.
Large-scale, well-controlled tests indicate that pot may increase the risk of schizophrenia in a small segment of the population who are genetically predisposed to it, in much the same way that alcohol may increase the risk of alcoholism in a significantly larger segment of the population with a genetic predisposition to it.
Similar tests indicate that pot may be worse for your lungs than tobacco if you smoke a truly obscene amount of it. That is, if you smoke pot like Joe Pack-a-Day kicks back the ciggies.
If the government wants to protect us, there are better ways to do it than this.
I think most soft drugs are kept illegal just out of habit. Marijuana isnt as bad for you as alcohol/nicotine but no goverment wants to legalise it because that would be like endorsing it.

true
It seems to me that you are basing your opinion on what you have been told in school. What they tell you in school isn't correct, as the effect of a drug is different from person to person. What you have said will happen CAN happen, but I know a load of people who have spent huge chunks of their lives taking drugs, just like many people drink alchohol, and they are not addicted, involved in criminal activity (that does not involve taking drugs), homeless or any different to other people who do not take drugs.
However, in my opinion, the effects of drugs do tend to stay in your system longer than alchohol, in the case of some drugs e.g. Ecstasy, this can be a good thing - people are generally happier and get more work done. However in the case of other drugs like Marajuana, I find that there is sort of a clouding of the mind that stops you from doing anything propperly. Does this mean that because the effects stay in your system longer that they are socially, more or less damaging than alchohol? I can't give an answer.
Not all drugs are addictive and not all drugs cost a lot of money. Ecstasy is not chemically addictive, and far less expensive than alchohol? Yet it is a class A drug? You could say 'yes but people can die from taking ecstasy.' This is mainly because of the crap that the pills are cut with. If ecstasty was legal, it would be regulated in some way, meaning that it wasn't cut with crap, meaning that the death toll would be far less than that of alchohol related diseases. Ok, I'm losing track now, so I'll stop there.
The point of this post - Don't base oppinions on things that you have been told of, you should base them on things that you know of.

Takeing drug A before a football game and getting agressive off because your team didn't win so you start fights, or before a disco or club and getting agressive because your girlfriend dumped you so you start fights.
or
Takeing drug B and not having control over yourself at the time and acting like a prick.
I know what i've said above it happens with all drugs but i've outlined that they alter your mood

Yes, and some friends.
alcohol
weed
Hashish (on a daily basis right now...)

Drugs in excess are a bad thing, in any form. Most of us have experimented with many things.
I cannot take credit for staying off of things like coke. I was observed by a friend the night I did my first lines. I was looking to purchase as much as I could get my hands on, I flat out loved this stuff! My friend pulled me asaide, told me he'd been watching me, and told me he was in recovery at that time. He told me he knew where I was headed, and that the road was a long road that went nowhere. That was all he said, then walked away.
Changed my mind right then, and for that, I thank him every chance I get. I absolutely loved the stuff, and I still crave the feeling from time to time.
Coke is getting on my tits right now, any inclination I might have had to try it has been squashed as it seems like everyone I meet is on it these days.
It just seems like a total ****head drug, you take it and Hey Presto! You're a ****head...

Drugs are a difficult subject. I believe that one cannot completely condemn nor completely endorse drug use. I do believe that tobacco and alcohol are very detrimental in high quantities, but I believe that people should be allowed to choose for themselves. This is also how I feel about drugs. My drug use has been limited to the following:
Alcohol
Nicotine (a few stray puffs on friend's cigs while high/drunk)
Marijuana
Shrooms
Codeine
Alcohol and pot are the only two of these that I have done a lot of. I can honestly say that weed was detrimental to my grades during the second semester of my freshman year in college, but that was due to my own bad decisions (i.e. smoke instead of study) and not due to the drug itself. I had several friends who smoked more than I did and got significantly better grades. It was mostly down to my laziness, actually.
I do think that people on drugs/drunk people can be veeeery annoying. That said I like drinking and smoking weed myself a lot, and I find that if I do it with the right people, it remains very enjoyable. I also believe that I have, through the usage itself, and my own, sober reflections on that usage, gained insight into myself as a person, and into life in general.
But I will say this: drugs aren't for everyone.

I only have used marijuana (including hasish) and alcohol. I don't drink caffeine and I avoid using Tylenol or Asprin as much as possible. I hate stimulants. These days I don't drink alcohol unless there's nothing else but there's always pot.

nothing, and this is a f*cking stupid thread!
Ok dude so why did you post. Hey I don't do drugs so much any more but if you haven't done drugs why would you post?
In my early years (in alphabetical order, lol):
Illegal:
Acid (or lsd), Cocain, Hydrocodone (faced it) Lithium, Mescaline, MSD (Ecstasy), Mushrooms, Nitros Oxied, Opium, Peyote (O.M.F.G.), Quaaludes, Weed.
Now a days, 2 packs of smokes, a 12 pack of corona and 3 shots of tequlia... and if I'm fealing froggie 1 or 2 muscle relaxers. Never touched crack or heroin. But if black tar opium is herion and snow caping a bowl w/ coke is crack then put them in there.
Further more, If ya got a problem w/ people doing drugs, LICK MY N**S!!! People can party till the wheals fall off. Hell if I died tomarow from a night of party hardy, all I can say is "sh!t that was fun." What are you mormen? My body is an amusment park. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
But I will say this: drugs aren't for everyone.
AMEN DUDE!!!

People can party until the [raised streaks left by blows with a lash] fall off. That's the strangest metaphor I've ever read. Even stranger if you meant wheal as in the Cornish name for a tin mine.
be cool and pretend you didn't make a spelling mistake it'll make you look artistic

Um...I've drank a lot. Smoked some marijuana. LOADS of caffeine, um, yeah and prescripion drugs, well when they are prescribed. As far as weed goes. I did it some, but really the guilt of it being illegal and the whole you know, going to jail or something was enough for me.

Come on, that's a bit extreme.
A junkie is someone who is addicted, most people on here just seem to have used these drugs occasionally, recreationally.
You know what I just realized?
Junkie was probably a word for a heroin addict to begin with, because Junk is heroin. If that's true, people on crack aren't junkies. They're crack heads.
you know when i first signed up for this board, i couldn't even imagine doing drugs. and now i've done almost every single one (except heroine... **** that ****!)
not really something to be proud of. imo, they were a huge waste of time. don't get me wrong, they were fun. shrooms and lsd were a ****ing blast. but damn. what a waste of time. i still smoke weed, and i'll drop or shroom every now and then... but yeah. drugs.
weed is still the greatest thing in the world. beer is better than water. and cigarettes will be the end of me!
anyway, kids, don't do drugs. but if you do, be ****ing responsible. really. i've been working out, going to the gym, and started biking. seriously, it feels better than ecstacy. really!

Wow. How was that?
dxm and weed have been the best drugs I've used for writing, and alcohol is best for shaking off the jitters, last insane trip I had was 6 e's, pressed caps, they were practicly meth pills, can you say oncoming? :D Lately I've had a good connection to pure e (also has some vitamin b for circulation), and recently had mono so the doc gave me a script for t3's...opiates are good, especially since for whatever reason my gf doesn't nag on me about dr. prescribed medicine, but watch out, withdrawl's a creeper.

Its my favorite drug by far, I'd do it more often if only I could find it more often.
