Here's something to discuss. Whats everybody's set up like, and how you get that sweet spot in your tone.
I play an Tweaked OLP 5 string bass through a homemade pedal board.
Effects: (not in order) Ibanez Phat Hed Dist.
Boss Bass EQ
Ibanez Phaser
Boss CE-20 (twin)
Ibanez Delay/Echo
Boss Noise Suppresser
Amp: Ampeg 210sp 220 watts.
The biggest source of my tone is from my amp, with well balanced Lows and Mids, and Limited Highs (just enough to avoid noise)
Have fun you guys, PEACE!!!!!!!!!!:D
I currently have a *gibson Les Paul special w/ humbucking pickups
*a an epiphone gothic les paul loaded with emg pickups
*Mesa Boogie 3 Channel 150watt Tripple Rectifier
*Custom built pedal board
*Pedals - Boss Chorus Ensemble, digitech metal master, Boss DS- 1, marshall channel changer (duhh), mark tremonti MORLEY power wah (modified), boss chromatic tuner.
*dunlop nylon picks (thin)
*audio technica wireless unit (sorta sucks)
:p

Yes, but there aren't that many bass players on here although alot more than there used to be. If you start asking about bass rigs in the user rigs section the topic gets burried pretty fast.
As for my rig, currently it's just an
Ibanez SR400 VTB > Ampeg V-4B w/ Ampeg BSE 4x10 HLF
I'm looking for an OD/Dist pedal at the very least to add to it as well as an Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling Fretless w/ Piezo.

when I play bass I use...
Epiphone Thunderbird Bass
EHX USA Big Muff Pi
Marshall Guv'nor
Vox T-25 combo amp
this is a good setup. the Vox T-25 only 25 watts so not loud at all but the sound is fairly good.

at the mo i'm using:
Ibanez Soundgear GTO200/Squier P-Bass Special -> Tuner -> Boss ODB-3 -> Laney DP150 150w 15"
however, it is my birthday in a few weeks, so a large cash influx is expected :D this will be contributing towards an Ibanez Ergodyne EDA900. Get iiiiiin!
i have a lot of gear, but now I'm using for the most parts:
- ephiphone thunderbird bass, with new electronics (pots and plug), tuned in C-F-A#-D# (five string set, without the high one)
- boss tu-2
- EH BigMuff pi USA
- boss ODB-3
- Fender Bassman 135 with groove tubes (backup: London City DEA 130, EL 34 tubes, customized trafo for more output)
- Custom Build 2x15" cab with RCF l15-541 speakers
the sweetspot for my sound are my fingers, I setup my bass amp up a bit to loud and with too much high, so I can use it when I need it (no slapping or tapping! i hate that!) I hold back a bit with my fingers a bit for my normal tone, so when I need a bit of a accent, I just dig in my fingers and.....
the other thing is my BigMuff.... I like to blow people away...... I don't use it much, people get hurt when i do
tuned in C, using a B string also makes my sound, it's very low but also very tight! the string is actualy tuned one step up, instead of 4 steps down (that sound terrible)

well it's not exactly my setup, but my girlfriend/the bassist in my band uses this...
*musicman stingray 4string black w/ maple neck
*gk800rb
*ampeg svt 810
sometimes i steal her stuff, it's hard to resist.
im in love with my new bass.

Stingray 4-string. it's about the sexiest thing ive ever felt up :)
From that, i run my bass into a Tech 21 SansAmp Dass Driver (the most useful thing on the planet), a Crybaby 105Q Bass Wah, DigiTech x-series turbo flange, and i'll soon be replacing my ibanez DE-7 (just sold it to ennui :p). I run it all into an old Fender BXR 100 combo, which I'll be replacing shortly with a Mesa M-pulse 600 into a Mesa RoadReady 4x10 cab. I'm also going to buy a Boss GEB-7 EQ, replace my flange with a DOD FX-75B (seriously, these sound GREAT, and are like 30 dollars on e-bay), and a Boss chorus.
WHEW! if you read that, thanks. it was fun to write. :)
