I sing.

I sing, but not that well, I haven't got the best voice.

Thing is I enjoy writing a lot of lyrics and think I write some which aren't bad so I find it difficult for others to sing them.

Sing, scream, growl, a little of it all.

I can do a damn good death metal growl, and I do sing some, but I'm not particularly good at it. I can carry a tune just fine, but my voice isn't that pleasing and I don't have much of a range.

pretty much the same for me, but my music doesn't usually call for singing, so it's all good.

Are we talking shower/mowing lawn type singing....or in a band? I sing a bit but I personally don't think my voice is that nice...I wish I could sing like a mixture between Buckley and Cornell though..

i sing a bit with the singer in my "band." mostly i just sing in the shower...

i wish i could sing louder... any tips? i can hold a tune fine until i try to sing out, then my voice becomes completely uncontrollable... do i just need practice or are there techniques i could be learning?

pre-audioslave cornell, i imagine? he sounded like he had a really bad cold at live8

and i think just about every rock singer since buckley and cornell were at their prime would like to sound like them

If I could play guitar as well as I sing I would have a signature amp by now.

I started as a singer, and only picked up guitar because my guitarist at the time quit the band... I sing lead on alot the hi-fi tracks, but I am not the lead vocalist because we all sing in the band

Yeah...but still that would be the coolest thing ever...some of Cornell's old shrieks were so awesome...

I sing, I wish my voice was more powerful, I think it's a little to thin. At least I can hit most of the notes in a song, and I can play and sing so I got that going for me which is nice.

I was lead vocal in almost every band I've played in (in numbers? A sh*tload!)
I am the man of a thousand possible voices. Want a raspy completely out of tune Bob Dylan voice? You got it! How about a James Hetfield? All Hetfields are covered here! (pre '88, load & re-load to S&M + Garage inc., and the insultingly terrible St. Anger vocal). Really, I can do anything. Except Joe ****er, but who'd really want to shred their throat?

I sing a bit for my solo project and I'll probably sing a bit on some of our band's songs if we decide that my voice best fits the songs. Lately, though, alot of the work in my band and my solo project has been instrumental.

The lead vocalist will surely want to add something at some point.

I try my best... although it is not that great, and usually most times there are out of tune notes.

So far I'm in the play easy powerchords and sing stage..

my voice is between elliot smith and the guy who did lullaby on the worst qotsa album. I sing all day at work to keep my sanity, but its a little difficult with the guitar, im working on it but for the moment i just cheat and do a different track. my favorite songs to sing are like alice and chains's godsmack among others, foo fighters free me is good to just thrash your throat. Another good reason to smoke. when you dont flex nuts you dont seem to go far in life, its difficult being content and humble.

Think about vibrating the notes in the head (nose, sinus etc) rather than the vocal chords... cause you don't really use the vocal chords that much when doing falsetto.

You might find it comes out gravelly or nasally... you might just have a kinda nasty falsetto tone, like me. :)

it depends on what you're playing and how. guys like Kurt Cobain and Billie Joe Armstrong have an easy time because they play simple songs with limited switching going on. the more complex it is to play, the harder it is to focus on vocals.

i sing pretty good, i like to think. i can imitate both the Rob Halford scream and the Jonathan Davis relatively well, but my range is a bit limited. i'm a baritone, so i have trouble hitting the highs.

i sing pretty well ... i've basically been learning as i go along ... somewhere between Mark Lanegan, Nick Oliveri and Blag Dahlia i suppose.

the singer in one of my bands chickened out the day we were supposed to record a cover of 'too drunk to ****' a few years ago, so i thought **** it, i'll do it myself, and i was happily surprised with the result, so ever since i've been singing more and more.

I put another band together last year and ended up doing the singing myself (+ guitar) cos i couldn't find anybody better ...

And now the singer in my old band wants to quit so i might be taking over in that band too ... problem is i'm filling in on bass cos we fired the one we had, but playing bass and singing is a no-no for me ... the rock'n'roll stuff is easy, but playing a good solid reggae line and singing at the same time is ****ing hard.

For those who've never tried it, being lead singer (i.e. no guitar, just mike) is great fun. Last year we did a big festival in Paris and the singer couldn't make it. I took over and had a great time, diving into the crowd with the mike, dancing, egging the crowd on, and most importantly ; no amp, no guitar and NO GODDDAM PEDALS !

Yeah I was a tenor 1 in high school, so I can get 'up there.' I could falsetto up to soprano 2 stuff. Some people would think tenors as girly and such, but I love it.

Regardless, I still cant sing too pretty-ly. My voice isnt very distinct, and if Im unaccompanied I like to keep it in just midrange stuff. I think Im influenced most by Sam Beam (and older Maynard stuff if the songs heavier) in my non-high-range singing voice, but its nowhere near that pretty.

I can't sing while playing. Of course, I can barely sing when not playing, so I just play instrumental stuff 'cuz the other guitarist is tone deaf and him singing is just painful.

I don't know how, but I have a reasonable falsetto. My voice sounds best singing bass, but I can do anything in between. I'm scared that when I quit smoking my voice won't be gravely anymore, and I'll wind up sounding like a singing newsreader.

Throat tight, lots of air pressure, only use one set of vocal chords.

It's just about the only singing I can do. I'm told that I sound like I'm mortally wounded when I sing full voice, though I can at least sing in key(fat lot of good that does me with my voice). I might feel better about my singing if half of my friends didn't do a capella.
