Has anyone seen this documentary about 80's pro skater Mark "Gator" Rogowski?
I watched the film on Sundance channel last night and it was amazing. Its an unbelievable story of human drama set against the rise and fall of vert skateboarding and the rise of street skating.
Gator was basically the rockstar of pro skating, but he was manic depressive and he ended up killing a girl.
He was used by corporations and then when street skating came along and no one cared about vert skaters, Gator was just tossed aside and he couldn't make the transition that Tony Hawk and others made.
Great soundtrack, too. Dead Kennedys, Black Flagg, Agent Orange, Bad Religion... and even that Flock of Seagulls song "Space Age Love Song" (which isn't the greatest song ever, but damn!, I never knew that it had such a catchy guitar riff).
I definitely recommend this film.
