hey i got an ips-33b a few months ago and have scarcely had the chance to mess with it. every time i play it with my stack, just messing around, my head feels like its about to explode. its not from the actual sound its putting out but some underlying sonic quality i think, as it still happens when the effect is bypassed

is it so terribly digital that my brain has problems with the sampling rate? do the input and outputs have to be set specifically to avoid problems? ive used it in front and in the effects loop and get the problem each time. even when in bypass theres something this unit is giving off thats killing my ears

i love the sounds this thing can create but i might need to look elsewhere. it sounds TOO digital at times, but i dont know where id get the sounds short of a synth, which is starting to look way more practical. i got it mainly for the Wh-1 chip and the space station sounds

Hey there, I have a DHP-33 which is pretty much the same thing and know what you mean about the digital tone even in bypass. I use a rack preamp and just turn the effect level down to zero on the preamp unless I am using the whammy or shimmer effect. As for the head exploding sensation, I never really got that. Sometimes my head feels numb, but usually that happens when the presence settings on preamp and power amp are too low.

You could try running it at instrument level in the effects loop, makes some difference.
Or line level if it's allready at instrument level.
Haven't had that many problems with mine. other then it being the only rack unit with power at the far right and input at the far left of my rack, wich causes some noise issues due to the input being so close to the powerlines...

hope that helps.

PS: Running it in parallel is a good option too.
