i read the article in Guitar World featuring Brian "Head" Welch from Korn, after he left the band to dedicate his life to Jesus.

now, i'm not bashing God or Jesus or anything or those who believe in them, i personally don't think religion doesn't automatically make you a better person but he genuinely seems to be on a better track. but this one quote freaked me the **** out.

"if you fall off and quit praying once you get peaceful, and maybe go to church only one a month because its a lot of work, you'll start going through some bad stuff. He gets mad, I know. There are a couple of times that I forgot to go to Him. That's why I pray continuously all day now. He wants to get invited to our party and be the life of it, but He also wants to cure our troubles and the horrible things in life. He wants both. If you forget him, He's going to kick your butt and put His finger on your head and weigh you down with that baggage until He gets your attention."

...am i the only one a little freaked out by that?

Sounds like Mr.Welch has lost the plot. Suddenly finding God is no indicator of lunacy, far from it, but those kind of statements hint at Mental Illness in my opinion.

i don't even think that's an accurate thing to say. "god will make your life harder if you're not as devout as possible"?

i'm not buying it. he's essentially saying that god gives people who trust in him an excemption from pain, and that's just plain not true.

praying continuously all day is a great benefit to society.

depends what he's praying for..

praying for, say, god to smite detroit, isn't exactly constructive and doesn't really help anyone

true. convictions without actions are effectively useless. in some cases, convictions shouldn;t be acted upon (usually for good reason), but god works through people more often than not. if you pray for comfort to the homeless, go out and join habitat for humanity. it's a self-answering prayer. which reminds me, i should send off my habitat application this week

I don't think he's crazy at all. He's just a guy dealing with stress. People have to go to serious lengths when their lives get out of hand.
