you guys put up your favorite guitarist threads and greatest threads and i hear names like kurt cobain and kirk hammet but not AVLIN LEE why not? he is not the greatest but far better than the previously mentioned. if you know nothing about him:
he played with the band TEN YEARS AFTER
if you have the woodstock video they are there
download some of his songs like GOING HOME (@ woodstock or any other live situation) or ID LOVE TO CHANGE THE WORLD
anyone else know of him? if not find those songs and tell me what you think

Yeah, he's like Hendrix or Garcia or Santana... they all sound the same. It's a 60s guitar hero thing.
I'm glad this threads appeared, about time someone mentioned Alvin Lee, a truly underratted player.
I saw him live a few years ago and he really smokes, also has a really basic rig which I'm sure would only take GG an hour to do...
From what I remember it was a cherry red 335 (the famous ban the bomb one from woodstock lives in a bank vault!) or his signature Heritage 335 copies (with extra strat pickups between the 2 PAF's and a bigsby unit) through a wireless unit into two marshall half stacks, one an old non-master volume and the other a Jubilee model (in silver). He also used an ibanez analog delay for slapback reverb. I also remember reading that he didn't use a guitar tech, prefering to change his own strings etc.
Amazing player, worth checking out...
nope i know alvin lee/10ya -- awesome band, awesome guitarist -- choo-choo mama is still an all-time fav and 'space in time' is definitely an all-time top 200 album (top 100 prolly but i'd really have to sit down and think about it)
