unfortunately this is anoither cry for help from someone who doesnt know much aout rack FX. basicaly i have an engl powerball and m looking to get a boss GT pro. the engl has an fx loop, which would take the boss, but what if i want to just plug my guitar into the boss and the boss into the input jack of the powerball? will it damage the amp? does teh boss rpoduce any sort of ohm rating?

please help!!!! as i really dont want to damage teh engl. my main reason for wanting to "front end" the engl is to give me a wider variation, overdriveboss+clean engl, overdrive boss+overdriven engl etc etc but the fx loop would mean that the boss would be layered ontop of the engl but by front ending it, the boss would be overdriven in the engl. am i talking crap or does that make sense? and which would be the best way??

thanks alot !!

If you want to use the Engl's distortions you should put the GT-pro in the fx loop. If you like to use the GT-pro distortions (wich I doubt), then you could put it in front of it.

I agree with Sweeppicker, the ENGL's distortion should be plenty, so I'd put the GT in the fx loop. That way, all the GT's effects will be after the preamp and phaser's, eq's, flanger's, chorus' will sound better (unless you like them infront of the amp, but whatever). If so for some reason you aren't happy enough with not using the GT's distortion, at that point I'd suggest using another distortion pedal before your amp. Hope that helps.

try and find what your ears like!!!!
common is to use certain fx pre and others post, or get a mixer or a switchblade....but just see what you prefer, i know people that plug in their wah backwards just to get certain sounds......
