i am currently playing on a gibson sg special and a marshall mg100 combo. I am not over the moon with my mg and am looking to improve it. I could get an effects pedal like the rp300a which makes the amp louder and has more settings etc, or just buy a huge amo, like the avt150h half stack!? what do you guys think

i would vote almost anything instead of an AVT. i see lots of people that dont like their AVT's and try to sell them soon after buying them. but it probably would be a step up from your MG, albiet a small step. i would vote to save for a better amp, but that is just my opinion.

all the avt150 is.. is a lackluster solid-state box with a built in $30 alesis nanoverb. the overdrive channels are thin and not too loud.

you'd be better off for that kind of money getting a marshall 6100LM off of ebay, if you want more power. from there you could get a 2x12 or 4x12 cab. and i'm sure it would be cheaper than the avt150.

pretty much any respectable marshall tube amp can be bought off of ebay for the price you'd pay for an avt150.

i think the 6100LM would be up your alley though.
