Need help understanding speaker ohms

I am new to rack gear. My mesa/boogie simul395 power amp has 4 and 8 ohm outputs. My 4x12 with celestion vintage 30's has a 4 and 16 ohm settings. Which setting should I use and why? Thanks for the help.
