G-Major w/ GCX & Ground Control -- HELP!
I am currently using a 5150II and a Marshall JCM 2000 with two Marshall 1960 (A&B) 4x12's. For the longest time I've been using Line 6 stomp boxes, but it's too much of a hassel to step on each pedal to mix FX and to turn on/off. I've known of the GCX & Ground Control for a few years now, but didn't feel it was for me. But, recently, after watching the Dream Theater LIVE at Budakon DVD, I decided to purchase a T.C. Electronic G-Major to replace all FX pedals and the GCX w/ Ground Control to AB/Y my amps and select the FX that I preset.
Now I have a few questions:
1. Is there a way to do a tap-tempo on the Ground Control to send to the G-Major or would that require something else?
2. I have an infinite delay preset and it bleeds over when I select another preset. What setting do I enable on each preset so that once I choose another one, it cuts off the previous effect and doesn't bleed?
That's it really...

I do not believe you can assign a switch for tap tempo, however you still can get tap tempo fairly easily. On the back of the GCP there are 2 input for expression pedal which are assignable. To get tap tempo, buy a momentary switch (one that does not click, but instead pushes up down with not noticeable click), you will have to connect it to a stereo 1/4 jack. Three wires tip, ring sleeve (ground). Plug the switch into one of the expression pedal outs and in edit mode you should be able to assign the expression. It should read with the switch open '0' and when pushed down you should see '127'. You might have to try switching tip and ring to get the correct value change (i.e not going from 127 to 0, but maybe that won't make a difference. So basically you have created an expression pedal with only 2 values, from there you should be able to assign that expression pedal to a modifier of the G major and thus get tap tempo. It may sound a bit convoluted but it should work. I own a TC G force and GCP and was thinking about doing the same thing for tap tempo. Let me know if you need any more information. The beauty is one floor controller takes care of the stage mess and tap tempo is reduced to a small 1 button footswitch that you can mount anywhere.
As far as your delay issue, I am unfamilar with the G major. I do not believe that I have that carry over, in some instances it would be nice to carry over delays, but in my setup they shut off as soon as I switch patches.

Got it. Is there a way to set a button on the Ground Control to toggle a GCX Loop AND send a CC to my G-Major FX Processor and the same time?
For Example:
GCX Loop1 contains the Clean Amp
GCX Loop2 contains the Dirty Amp
001 on my FX unit is Delay
Is this possible:
Button 1 Toggles Clean AND Delay.

Yes, I do this all the time. The GC can send multiple CC messages on different midi channels for one button press. It's easy to program too (compared to some other pedals).
Set up the G-Major as an additional "device" (it's in the manual...), and then it can have it's own CC number for each patch. I think it can handle either 4 or 8 separate devices, depending on the GC "version". The GCX counts as a device.
If you had a G-Major and something else, you could put them on different midi channels and even name the devices in the config. You can also have it send them different CC numbers. So, foot button #1 could turn on a loop, switch the g-major on midi channel 1 to patch 27, and something else on midi channel 2 to patch 88. Etc.
