Hi,
I`ve got myself a wonderful Marshall 1960 TV 4x12 (See here (http://www.marshallamps.com/images/products/cabinets/1960tv.html)) cabinet. Unlike my 1936 2x13 (See here (http://www.marshallamps.com/images/products/cabinets/1936.html) ) unit with normal Celestions this one has "Greenbacks" inside. Wow, what a difference!!!

I was wondering if anyone out there has some experience with speakers and could tell a little bit about it. I think this is a underrated theme but has so much effect on the sound.

I currently have a Crate GFX-212, and a Crate GX412R, I'm planning on selling all of that in the near future and getting a Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier (not sure bout rack mount or whatever) and a mesa boogie 4 x 12 cabinet which i hope will sound awesome

not a big fan of stack amps is me. i'd choose my peavey bandit and an ac30 anyday.

i prefer the lower watt speakers for the breakup (celestion 25 and 30s). i've tried the 75watts and they were to rigid sounding. it took way too much volume to push 'em hard.

i'm with dimebag on this one. i'd take a smaller amp over a huge stack anyday (ie. fender champs, princetons, silvertones, little marshall combos etc) for me it's easier to get a great tone at lower volumes onstage and in the studio (uhhh... and they are easier to haul around!) one of the best tones i ever put on tape was a homemade fuzz box through a tiny solid state 8" peavey bass microamp.

My favorite cab is a Bogner 4x12 angled cab with 2 vintage 30's and 2 G12H's wired in an X pattern. The G12H's are the best sounding speakers I've had the pleasure of using. I can't wait till I can get a Top Hat 2x12 with the G12H's in it.

I too had the Bogner 412 slant, but I got tired of hauling it around. Now I have a Genz Benz 212 Flex cabinet. It is extremely tight, punchy, has a well rounded and defined bottom end, and is easy to carry around.

I use a Marshall JCM 800 1960 lead series...i think
straight cab
great low end, especially with a good head

i'm currently using a Crate G600XL head though, so the 60 watts of solid state don't do it much justice...

Right now I'm using a Marshall 1960A (Slant) 4x12 with a Dual Rectifier but it is soon to be replaced by a Bogner Straight-front 4x12 loaded with V30's, I personally think the G12H's are ****.

I've got a Marshall JCM900 1960A cab loaded with 2 Vintage 30's and 2 G12T-75's. I play a Mesa Triple Rectifier through it. I used to play through a Mesa cab, but the low end sounded a little muddy. :o

I play a Peavey 5150 4-12 straight front cab. It has massive bottom end--really booms. The Sheffields aren't as warm as Celestion Greenbacks or the V30s, but sound more raw, like an open wound--great for saturated metal. I had a Johnson 4-12 straight-front with V30s, and that was a nice, nice cab, and I miss it. It was real Marshall-y sounding. Lots of mids & punch.

I have a old homemade 2x12" cab with celestion greenbacks in it.
I got it cheap together with my SS head.
at home and for practice itīs cool, but I might get a 4x12" later, because the amp delivers 130W and the cab can only take 50W.

I'm personally in love with vintage 30s, they may sound a bit darker than a greenback (which seems to be the other popular choice), but they hang on like nothing else, and they're bloody loud.

I built a 212 cab with vintage 30s, and and my current carvin cab has vintage 30s too.

I've heard good things about the eminence legend speakers, but I've yet to hear a cab loaded with them.

Using a Bogner 4x12 Slant with V30s, it is heavy yes but everything is in road cases and goes in a trailer.

Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier into a Carvin MTS 4x12 w/ the old BR12 speakers. A kickass combination.

Oh, I didn't see previously, Stoner:

Sheffields _are_ vintage 30s. Just open your cab up and look at them.
