Elixirs for my tacoma. My tacoma came with elixirs and they sounded so pretty and felt so nice. I also use d'addarios for my classical guitar and my cheap yamaha acoustic.

I use 13-56 gauge D'Addario phosphor bronzes on my Epiphone AJ-45. I recently switched over to the "extended life" version of these strings, they cost more but do seem to last longer.

D'addario Lights, phospher bronze. These are the best, they last for ages, have amazing tone and are very very comfortable under the fingers.

Cost a little more, but last a lot longer... I have these on all my acoustics, in fact I only use D'addario lights and Ernie Ball Super Slinkys on the electric.

I like the D'Addario EXP coated phosphor bronze strings. Light gauge (12-53). I tried the Elixers, but they sounded too tinny and unrealistic to me.

D'addario .12, they sound great and last for a long time.

I've been using the same thing for over 15 years ...

Electric = GHS Boomers
(I found they didn't get as gunked up as fast)

Accoustic = Dean Markley Bronze
(take the low E off and add a 10 for the High E and shift)

Anybody still use these brands?

i use martin sp phosphor bronze 80/20s on my taylor.

i know everyone loves elixir, but everytime i've bought a set i broke two or three strings every time i gigged with elixirs. i got so fed up... i don't care how long their tone lifespan is if they can't hold up. it was getting way too expensive.

and the martins are the warmest "out of the box" strings i've found.

martin studio pros... i think in the green box... extra light? light? something like that.

they put out a very full tone.

elixirs on my electric... and i'm beginning to like 'em.

but for some reason, elixirs never felt right on my acoustic.

Elixirs, like Sky, on everything that requires strings. I think I'm going to see if they are a publicly traded company so I can buy some stock.

Elixirs are the ONLY strings to use in my book. I like the Nano's. Sometimes I use Poly's on my acoustic.....depends on what sound/feel I am in the mood for.

i tried elixirs because i heard nothing but raves about them but i really didn't care for them. i like SIT acoustic strings (the royal gold is typically what i use). they are a fair price for a string that just seems to last forever and has as good or better sing than any string i have ever tried.

i really respect your opinion guru so maybe i should try them again.

I didn't want to start a whole new topic for this stupid question:

What's the difference in string gauges?

Like, I just bought GHS Acoustics Ultra Light / Bright Bronze - 10-46

...Is that a good thing that they're "Ultra Light" as opposed to the heavier strings?

heavier string would sound deeper so the 10s tend to sound thin... it depends on what you like. light gauges are deifinitely easier to play than the heavy ones. the heavy gauge is hell on the fingertips but SRV preferred them.

I use D'Addario on my classical (medium tension)
Martin Extended Life SP on my acoustic,
and Dean Markley on my electric both medium gauge (.11)

I was an elixer junkie but i kept breaking strings. They sound great, but if you are a hard strummer and play big roch chords on your acoustic, i found martin sp+ worked out well for me. But you cant beat the sound and feel of the elixers, just wish they were a bit tougher.
