Hey, Im trying to learn soundgardens "burden in my hand" and the tabs say its in "Open C" tuning: tuning low to high CGCGGe.
Im a beginner and i dont quite know what this means. anyone know?

Open C tuning means that the guitar is tuned to a C Chord, without holding down any frets.

Basically you strum it without pressing anything and it rings out a C Chord.

Also, you can just put 1 finger over all 6 strings in one fret (ie barre it) and get say a D Chord on the 2nd fret, or an E on the 4th or whatever.

For open C tuning, tune your guitar like so, starting with the low E:

E C E G C# E

i remember when burden in my hand came out. i was all about learning how to play it. it sounds so awesome, and i thought it was going to be so difficult to learn. mainly because i knew right off the bat that kim thayil has his axe tuned all weird. once i figured out the tuning, the song was a joke to play. it's amazing. simplicity is truly genius. creativity is godlike.
