Well, I know my fair share of stuff about guitars and amps but I know absolutely NOTHING about recording...and I know this is the best place to come for help.

I would like to lay down some of my own tracks. The problem is, all I have are guitars, amps, and stompboxes. What else do I need? The more basic you could be the better...

You'll need a few basics, mic's, something to record on, etc. Check out this link for some more info.

Well, I understand how I would do it with a 4-track and a cassette recorder. But if I had some mic's, a mixer, and the software on my computer would I be able to record onto my computer? Or I suppose I would need an ultra nice sound card for that...?
